[00:00:06] The rocking review podcast, hosted by j. Rock rude.
[00:00:29] Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to another exciting edition of the Rocking Review Podcast. This is episode 29 of the podcast. Took about a week off, wasn't feeling that great. But ready to get back on the saddle in today's episode, we got a lot to go over. We had Monday Night Raw this past week and in Atlanta, Georgia, where the phenomenal AJ Styles ended up finally retiring and had a special announcement at the end of the show.
[00:01:05] But other than that, it was a very subpar episode of Monday Night Raw.
[00:01:17] And there's one key thing that made it very down and that was in the very first match of the show. We'll go over that. We'll also go over the preview for Elimination Chamber, which will be happening Saturday, February 28th from the United center in Chicago, Illinois.
[00:01:36] And we got a couple of matches announced.
[00:01:41] A lot of questions still remain about the road to WrestleMania.
[00:01:47] We'll also do a quick dive on ratings as of recently and we'll talk a little bit about nxt, which happened. There was four title matches in the NXT that took place last night, February 24th.
[00:02:06] As they announced later today that for the first time, Stand in the Liver will not happen the same weekend as WrestleMania. It'll happen April 4th in St. Louis.
[00:02:19] We'll talk about that. And then we'll also talk about the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Awards that were released about two weeks ago and just go over my thoughts on that as well. But let's first dive into Monday Night Raw.
[00:02:40] So we started out Monday Night Raw with them talking about the tribute to AJ Styles. This was announced last week.
[00:02:54] It was then announced that he would be closing the show and they were going to have a bunch of talent come in and everybody was going to show up and show out and it was going to be a massive tribute for AJ Styles.
[00:03:10] But of course, as we started out, the show in came in Gunther interrupting Graves and Cole in the middle of the ring.
[00:03:22] He told them that they knew that they were trying their best, but it didn't cut it for him, so they should go back to their desk and tell everyone how great he was.
[00:03:32] They left the ring and Gunther continued over chance of you tapped out, saying that he knew no one was happy to see him because they were all idiots gathered to celebrate the career of AJ Styles.
[00:03:50] He said that he thought it was disrespectful to have a celebration for a loser.
[00:03:55] And he understood that the people had always liked losers that he had retired like Bill Goldberg, John Cena, and now AJ Styles.
[00:04:04] What they all had in common was that Gunther had killed their careers.
[00:04:10] So what should be happening is it should be a celebration of a truly great wrestler.
[00:04:15] And there was a spot where Adam Pearce's mic wasn't going over the pa. So Gunther kept talking, and he just kept on, you know, gallivanting and chauvinizing himself.
[00:04:31] Pierce came out, and they brought security.
[00:04:37] And Pierce tried to stop Gunther from making the night worse.
[00:04:46] Gunther said he was gonna leave, but not because Adam said so, but because he would not be disgraced by what was happening there that night.
[00:04:57] So Pierce and the rest of the security escorted Gunther to the back. He's laughing, and then they get all the way up the ramp, and then Dragon Lee comes out and attacks Gunther again out of nowhere.
[00:05:12] They brawled briefly, but it was broken up.
[00:05:15] And then they walked to the back, and Dragon Lee attacked him again.
[00:05:22] They finally got Lee off of Gunther.
[00:05:26] Pierce asked if Gunther was happy.
[00:05:30] And then all of a sudden, the American Nightmare, Cody Rhodes, another Georgia favorite, appeared and made his way to the ring.
[00:05:41] Big pop for Cody this was.
[00:05:45] But real quickly, let's go back to the Gunther situation.
[00:05:48] So it was later announced that next week in Indianapolis that Gunther would be facing Dragonlay. So they weren't gonna put the match on Elimination Chamber.
[00:06:00] But currently, right now, as far as what the plans are looking like for WrestleMania, you mean to tell me that the same guy who ended Goldberg's career, John Cena's career, and AJ Styles career, he's able to do that, and you still don't have a plan for him at WrestleMania?
[00:06:27] Again, I'll mention this ahead of time.
[00:06:30] Brock Lesnar was on this show.
[00:06:33] He did absolutely nothing. We'll talk about that later.
[00:06:38] But you're telling me, and again, there's no way that you can make Brock Lesnar a babyface.
[00:06:46] But you're telling me, like, you guys completely wrote off the chances of having Lesnar versus Gunther at Mania, even though that was the plan. Like, two years ago when he was the IC Champion and you were trying to get Brock to be on WrestleMania, but then all the stuff came out.
[00:07:08] It's ridiculous that, like, this guy is one of the top heels being pushed right now on Monday Night Raw, and you still don't have a plan for him. You didn't have him win the Elimination Chamber match. You gave it to Javon Evans.
[00:07:22] Right now, we don't know what's going to happen with Javon Evans and the Elimination Chamber spot. People have speculated that he's going to get attacked and someone's going to take his spot.
[00:07:35] But the fact is is that if you didn't want him to win the Chamber, you could have still let him in the match and then him start a feud with somebody like Randy Orton.
[00:07:47] If the plan is not Randy Orton, which let's, let's go ahead and let's talk about that. So on smackdown to sidetrack, there was a main event between Randy Orton, Aleister Black.
[00:07:59] In the end of the match, Drew McIntyre who had earlier that night, came out and he was sitting up in the press box and he was trolling Jacob. Thoughts who? And Cody Rhodes.
[00:08:15] And later in the night he came back out and attacked Randy Orton in the match which caused him to lose to Alistair Black.
[00:08:23] There was then reports all over the weekend that there have been talks of a multi man undisputed WWE championship match happening at night one of WrestleMania which would include Drew McIntyre as champion, Cody Rhodes, Jacob Fatu and Randy Orton.
[00:08:45] There was also talks about possibly even Sami Zayn being in that match.
[00:08:55] I personally think that that is a horrible way to go, but I will save it for when we're talking about elimination. Chamber says Cody was about to talk more about AJ Styles. Out came the Vision, Paul Heyman, Bronson Reed, Logan Paul and Austin Theory.
[00:09:21] Heyman came out trying to do his shtick, but he got booed.
[00:09:26] Theory took over and said he couldn't stand a place disrespecting his wise man and the Vision. And he admitted that he was ashamed to be from Atlanta.
[00:09:35] And then of course Paul took the mic and said no worries because there is one person who's not ashamed to be from Atlanta and that's Cody. Because just like all of the people in Atlanta, they had no common sense.
[00:09:53] They said that he was insane for showing up to Monday Night Raw because when Bronson Reed wins his qualifying match and he wins the Chamber and he wins at Mania, the Vision is going to take over smackdown and Cody will be the first guy out the door.
[00:10:12] And they said that they would bless Atlanta with their presence and be ringside for Bronson's qualifying match.
[00:10:23] Rhodes then intervened and said he was pretty sure that there was somebody who would disagree with that. And then out came Jay uso.
[00:10:32] So after the break, this was a triple threat. This was for the last spot of the elimination Chamber qualifier.
[00:10:39] Bronson Reed, Jay, USO and the original Grande Americano.
[00:10:44] Americano and USO teamed up to throw punches at Reed.
[00:10:49] Double whip. But he blew right through them with closed lines. Landed a double clothesline of his own.
[00:10:55] A corner splash on Grande. Jay came in with some strikes at insecurity, and Bronson fell to the floor. USO hit the ropes, but Reed cut him off with an elbow and then dragged him out.
[00:11:07] Americano then positioned himself up top and gave a diving moonsault to outside.
[00:11:14] Back in the ring, Reed lifted Americano for a slam, but Grande slipped out and posted him. And then Jey. USO helped post Bronson a second time back from commercial. USO struck away on Americano in a corner, setting him up on top. Reed then cut him off with a big headbutt, hit fireman's carry, got Grande on top and marched to the middle of the ring and hit a double Samoan drop.
[00:11:40] Reed then choked USO on the ropes and a boot sent Americano to the floor. Jey tried to mount a comeback but got a world's strongest slam.
[00:11:49] Americano got back inside and hit a bulldog that also turned into a leg drop on uso.
[00:11:59] Thinking about germing suplexing the big man. Jay broke it up, but got caught in the chaos theory.
[00:12:07] So this spot right here really ticked me off because again, this shows Jay's miscommunications in the ring.
[00:12:17] So Grande hits the chaos theory, Gable hits the chaos theory.
[00:12:22] He then goes up top for the diving headbutt, and for some reason, J rolled to the other side of the ring, and by the time that Americana was gonna take off, Jay was on the other side. So Americano basically miffed his headbutt and then went for the COVID And Reed proceeded to break it up, but as he broke it up, he hooked his arm near Americano, and when he hooked his arm, when he got back to his knees, he started looking at his shoulder. He started looking at his bicep area.
[00:13:10] Reed then went for a back suplex, but Americano landed on his feet and hit a bridging German, and that near fall sent the show on the commercial break. When they came back, Bronson was being checked by ringside doctors.
[00:13:32] So it was later revealed in the show that Bronson Reed had suffered a torn bicep.
[00:13:49] Dude, how in the. How in the world. For in five months, how do you go from having a stable, which actually looks promising, to then having a match with Cody getting injured the night after?
[00:14:13] You end up getting kicked out of your own group.
[00:14:20] And then they set up this storyline where there's a mystery man out on the loose against anybody who opposes the vision. You reveal that to be Austin theory, where you shave his head and make him bald, and then you proceed to get Bronson Reed top feud with Roman Reigns and you're also building up for Bron Breaker. Broad Breaker gets a world championship shot.
[00:15:09] And then Breaker gets injured doing a spot of just flipping the table and gets a hernia.
[00:15:18] And then about less than three weeks later, Bronson Reed gets injured off of a single breakup of a pin.
[00:15:33] And now the only two members are Austin Theory and Logan Paul. Those are the only two members and they are the members that were legit brought in only three months ago.
[00:15:45] The original Vision, the original group that we saw fully form after May in 2025, a Saturday night's main event in Tampa after the original group formed, you're telling me that all three of those members got injured back to back to back in the span of five months, completely ruined their plans for WrestleMania.
[00:16:15] And meanwhile, they still have another masked man gimmick going on where we still don't know who's been attacking the Vision.
[00:16:24] We believe it's going to be Seth Rollins.
[00:16:27] And now unfortunately, what this is going to set up is Rollins is going to be healthy enough to come back because his injury was back in September. So he should be on track right now to be ready for WrestleMania.
[00:16:41] Braun, we do not know because that hernia situation, what honestly might happen is they might reveal who this Mass attacker is. If it's not Seth Rollins, have him tag with Seth. And then at Mania, it's just simply theory and Paul vs. Rollins and the Mass man.
[00:17:03] That is legit what they're gonna do and it's gonna suck. So because Reed got taken out because he was injured, it then shifted to a one on one match between Jey USO and El Grande Americano. Original. They went to the floor. Back inside. Jay went up top, but Grande cut him off by hitting the ropes. And then USO knocked him back down. Grande looked for an ankle lock, but USO shrugged it off. A super kick with a rolling Coapo kick. And then Jay hit the spear off the top. And then Jey USO won by hitting the USO splash and he took up the last spot of the men's elimination chamber qualifying match.
[00:17:47] Okay, we'll go into that. More back from commercial.
[00:17:53] We saw the promo from last week, which was Stephanie Vacaris promo that she did entirely in Spanish.
[00:18:01] The Cure said that she didn't think that lived worked hard enough and that it was a shame that she hid behind a man. And then if Liv picked her, she was going to lose.
[00:18:13] So Dom and Liv went out to the ring. This is promoted as Liv was gonna finally decide who she wanted for her WrestleMania opponent.
[00:18:23] Dom gave Liv and himself a big introduction saying that the big moment had arrived for Liv to make her choice on who she was going to challenge. At Mania, she introduced Stephanie Vicair and Jade Cargill.
[00:18:37] Once they both got out of the ring, she said that she was ready to make her choice. But first she wanted to get something offered. Just.
[00:18:43] She said that Stephanie's words the previous week had Carr off guard and she wasn't used to being vulnerable like that. She had been thinking about it all week and realized that Stephanie was right and that she had only been thinking about her own experiences.
[00:19:00] Ten years with the best medical care, best coaches, the best facilities, and she still thought that she was struggling. She said that she didn't know Stephanie's story of scratching and clawing and struggling for 10 years. And now that she knew, she wanted to say that she was sorry because she was clearly the champion she said she was.
[00:19:20] But now Liv had to focus on her story.
[00:19:24] And with that being said, she went to go face Jade Cargill, but then immediately turns around and decks Vaccair with a big right hand. With the microphone, no less.
[00:19:37] Jade left and ground and pound to Stephanie hit a crazy code breaker in the corner.
[00:19:49] She got her knees very, very low and then grabbed the title before running and hitting an oblivion on Stephanie.
[00:19:58] So it has finally been decided that the second WrestleMania match will be Stephanie Vicaire versus Liv Morgan.
[00:20:09] Again.
[00:20:11] It's gonna be what it's gonna be depending on how everything moves with the Judgment Day, I definitely could see Liv winning back the title because quite honestly, I think that the Stephanie Vicaire project is over.
[00:20:29] She's had a great title run.
[00:20:32] She won the title fair and square.
[00:20:36] She. It was the tournament with Naomi who's dropped the title. That's the other thing nobody's talking about. Naomi most likely will be back before SummerSlam.
[00:20:48] So you gotta start building that feud up.
[00:20:53] And quite honestly, yes. Would Naomi be great coming back as a heel?
[00:20:58] It would be better if she was a baby face and just faced Lift.
[00:21:04] We then got an interview backstage with Javon Evans. Evans started to speak, but then noticed that Offset of the Atlanta rap group Migos was there for Raw. Of course, them shilling out all of the celebrities.
[00:21:24] They chatted briefly before the New Day and Grayson Waller pulled up. Xavier woods, of course, is still injured.
[00:21:31] He complained about the tribute show and it wasn't for him and said that they had been inviting Offset for years, but he never showed up. Offset responded by saying that the New Day sucked and Javon challenged him to a fight. But Kofi Told Evans to go lace his own boots because he sure couldn't lace his.
[00:21:53] So we got a match between Kofi Kingston and Javon Evans. Very good.
[00:22:01] We then shifted to Natalia Ernatti versus Maxine Dupree.
[00:22:12] When I. When I tell you. Man, it's crazy how bad this women's division is right now in wwe. It is lacking.
[00:22:23] It is so lacking.
[00:22:27] Maxine Dupree was only the third ever Women's Intercontinental Championship. She beat Becky lynch for it, held onto the title for about less than a month, gave it right back to Becky.
[00:22:43] Just for Becky to have a rivalry with AJ Lee, which had a horrible promo the week before with Becky. Boo boo.
[00:22:58] There's a, there's a really good reason why AJ Lee should not come back.
[00:23:05] The hype was great.
[00:23:07] Her and Punk got to be in a tag match. It's great, but it didn't matter.
[00:23:17] It definitely didn't matter when she was involved with War Games. It's not gonna matter that she's involved with Becky. At Elimination Chamber, Dupree started off hot, sending Natty to the floor with a flurry of offense, taking her down with cross body off the Timekeeper's barricade.
[00:23:40] They grab 90 natty by the head. She threw her into the barricade.
[00:23:46] Natty then kicked her off and Maxine went straight into the ring post, spiraled out and then got knocked out and went face down.
[00:23:58] Nanny then saw the opportunity, landed some ground and pound punches to the back of the Maxine before referee Eddie Arango pulled her off and called the match off for ref. Stoppage?
[00:24:17] Are you kidding me?
[00:24:20] I want everybody to know that the crowd went silent for this.
[00:24:24] The crowd went so silent for this finish because it made no sense.
[00:24:32] A simple kickoff into the ring pose immediately knocked down Maxine Dupree.
[00:24:40] They try to make it look like it was a stoppage because she kicked her with such force that it knocked her out.
[00:24:47] That's so stupid.
[00:24:50] So stupid. But, but, but again, the whole point is that it's pushing Natty's character, it's pushing Natalia's character of this new Persona of this ruthless low key legend. It's not doing anything for her.
[00:25:08] What needs to Happen is at WrestleMania, I think she should beat Becky or if they really want to go that route, be AJ Lee.
[00:25:19] Say that you consider yourself the low key legend. I'm the legend of women's wrestling and I started this for you. And you know, you were exactly like everybody that I criticized back then when I was on top. And then Natty being like I'll show you wrong. And then Natty wins it at WrestleMania.
[00:25:43] That's the best way to do it.
[00:25:47] We then saw the Judgment Day clubhouse where JD was apologizing to Finn, saying that he respected him like a brother and just wanted best for him. Finn said that it was water under the bridge, but at Elimination Chamber, he wanted to do it alone.
[00:26:04] Dominic then joined in and complained that they didn't have his back in the qualifying match the previous week against Javon and Gunther.
[00:26:12] He said that all is well and good, that Fit wanted to do it alone, but Mysterio asked for them to be there.
[00:26:23] He noted that he had an Intercontinental Championship defense the following week against Pensa and asked if he could count on them. JD apologized and said that they would be there for him. But Finn then told Dom to take some responsibility, grow a pair and handle it on his own.
[00:26:41] Balor left.
[00:26:43] McDonough told Dom not to worry and that they would have his back.
[00:26:48] So we're very much getting towards Babyface Finn most likely after this match with CM Punk.
[00:26:56] And you know 100% that once again they're gonna interfere and Finn is gonna be super pissed or Dom is just going to betray Finn.
[00:27:10] So it's all the heart of the cards on whether or not McDonough turns heel on Finn, Dom turns heel on Finn, and then we just get a one on one match at WrestleMania for the IC title.
[00:27:32] They showed the mystery crate again.
[00:27:38] He told Crew member that they they would put it back on the truck and deliver it to a limited chamber so that he and Nick Aldis could open it together.
[00:27:47] Can't wait for that.
[00:27:50] Rusev then said that he needed to speak with Pearce and said that he was busy and Rusev asked what could be more important than him.
[00:28:01] Obafemi then appeared and said that he was more important and that if Rusev wanted to play big veteran, then you should teach me a lesson, he said. They went back and forth before Pierce reminded them that it was for AJ Styles.
[00:28:21] And they said that another place, another time. So that looks like that's the first big major feud for Obafemi on the main roster is gonna be Rusev. So almost a guarantee that Oba is going to be part of the Raw roster moving forward.
[00:28:38] We then got Brock Lesnar.
[00:28:42] Listen, man, it's cool that Brock is back.
[00:28:50] Brock has been absent from WrestleMania the last two years, so if Brock Lesnar is able to show up and hyper, you know, hyper match, then that's okay.
[00:29:13] But I honestly couldn't care either way.
[00:29:18] So Brock came Out with Paul Heyman gave his introductions and he claimed that back at WrestleMania 30, when Lesnar ended the streak, that meant that Brock had Undertaker's guaranteed WrestleMania main event spot. And he asked who would be that year, but he said that there was nobody who was man enough to step up to face Brock.
[00:29:49] He then laid out Brock's Road to WrestleMania date. So they try to give off some heat by telling you the dates when Brock is going to be showing up. He'll be showing up on March 16, and then he'll basically show up for almost every Raw up until that point.
[00:30:24] So pretty much after this week and next week will be the start of oh, my apologies. So in another nearly two and a half weeks time, Brock Lesnar will be starting his road to WrestleMania.
[00:30:47] He'll be showing up in San Antonio, Boston, New York City, Houston, and then Sacramento before the WrestleMania in Las Vegas.
[00:31:02] Heyman also continued that he didn't think that anybody was going to show up because no one was going to answer Lesnar's open challenge.
[00:31:12] He added that regardless of the title matches, the real main event would be whoever got conquered by Brock Lesnar. And no one had the guts in the locker room to take that beating.
[00:31:24] And nobody even showed up.
[00:31:26] Nobody even showed up.
[00:31:32] Dude. They were. They really are trying with this, but I don't think it's gonna work out.
[00:31:38] If it is not Gunther, who else could challenge him at WrestleMania?
[00:31:46] That is why I very much believe that if Brock is somewhat involved with the elimination chamber match, that if the rumor plans of him versus La Knight, that's like the only other one.
[00:32:05] Because I honestly don't think that they should do Oba versus Brock this early.
[00:32:09] I don't think that there's anybody else who probably could face Brock, who's a big enough star right now, that would benefit from facing Brock.
[00:32:18] There's nobody that makes sense other than if you add Gunther. But Brock would need to be a baby face for that, and he's not.
[00:32:26] And you can't make Gunther a babyface.
[00:32:30] So we'll be having to see what ends up happening with Brock Lesnar and his open challenge.
[00:32:36] We then got Javon Evans vs. Kofi Kingston.
[00:32:40] Lots of Matt grappling. To start out the match. Kingston secured a chicken wing while paintbrushing the back of Evan's head with his other hand. They circled around, traded arm bars and arm wranglers before Kofi rolled out, reversed it into a wrist lock. So a lot of chain grappling, which is pretty good.
[00:33:01] Evazen dropped him with a super kick.
[00:33:04] And hilarious sent Kofi to the floor. But Grayson Waller held on to Javon's legs to distract him. Javon then hit the ropes, but Kingston legit went all the way to the top of the ramp. So he ran away from the spot happening.
[00:33:26] Evans went after Waller and then that's when Kofi returned and glommed him from behind.
[00:33:33] Javon nailed him with a busaiko knee and for a near fall.
[00:33:40] Kingston then blacked. The front kick, poked the eye of Evans and then threw Evans to the floor. Javon got distracted by Waller, but then Kingston caught him with a penalty kick back from commercial. Kingston overwhelmed Evans in the ropes, but Javon fought back with his hands there. There was a SOS that got blocked and then a standing switch. Evans fired off some kicks, a big corkscrew kicked, knocked out Kofi. But then Evans went to the top and hit a crazy moonsault.
[00:34:19] Rolled through and his leg came up and he and Javon ducked another penalty kick, but got the SOS the red dot connected and Kingston crashed to the floor. Big dive from Evans wiped him out. Back inside, Kofi nailed him for a near fall.
[00:34:41] He jawed off with offset on the outside. Javon went up to the top and won with the o g cutter for the win.
[00:34:53] Very good stuff for Javon.
[00:34:57] We then got shown people backstage. They had been showing up all night.
[00:35:04] People like the mfts, the good brothers Gallows and Anderson.
[00:35:09] They even had some TNA people here. Frankie Kazarian and Abyss showed up. That's right.
[00:35:18] Abyss actually showed up on WWE television in full gimmick, super, super funny.
[00:35:31] We got a CM Punk promo after a Finn Balor pre t.
[00:35:41] He responded by saying that the night wasn't about him, it was about AJ and that the crouch chant AJ's name instead.
[00:35:49] Punk said that he was trying to save as much time as possible for AJ to speak to the people.
[00:35:57] But he had a big weekend ahead in Chicago and there was a few things that he wanted to address.
[00:36:03] First, he wondered that if that night was the last time he got to do his good to be alive bit in Atlanta.
[00:36:18] Balor had continued asked what if? And Balor fired back with what if Finn hadn't jumped him in Toronto? What if he hadn't ruined the last time Punk would have been able to face AJ Styles in the ring.
[00:36:35] Finn wouldn't be getting his match at Elimination Chamber. He said that he had been a fighting champion and it was hard and people asked him why he was doing it and the answer was he was trying to be like the best that came before him and he had shared the locker room with like Harley Race, Cherry Funk, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Triple H.
[00:36:56] He asked what if Roman Reigns was there because the whole promo was about what ifs.
[00:37:06] And he said that he doesn't like dealing with what ifs because Roman wasn't even there.
[00:37:15] Roman was however, or Punk, however, was always gonna be there and made more comments about what ifs. He said what if Balor does beat him?
[00:37:25] No risk, no reward. The reality was that Roman was going to be in Indianapolis and that Punk didn't want to wait till WrestleMania and said that he was going to punch Reigns in the face next Monday. He admitted that he wasn't great at this and said that he'd let Balor and Reigns ask their what ifs.
[00:37:45] He said that he didn't have to ask what if he was champion because he was or what if he was good because he was the best in the world or what if he was the WrestleMania main event because he is and his name was CM Punk.
[00:38:06] So pretty good promo again leading up into these Roman Reigns appearances. We're probably gonna get a lot more work in ring on the mic for this rivalry and I'm very much excited for it.
[00:38:29] We then went into Roxanne. Oh sorry.
[00:38:35] We went into Eosky, Kyrie Singh and Raquel Rodriguez.
[00:38:43] They were in the last qualifier for the women's elimination chamber match.
[00:38:50] Early in the match, Raquel shoved Sky away and booted Zayn down IO then hit the ropes and landed a handspring sliding heel trip, but Rodriguez powered her way up and threw her into the corner. Kyrie took Raquel's back but Rodriguez slung her off.
[00:39:09] Iyo and Zayn teamed up for some corner chops before dumping Raquel to the floor, where Zane then turned and attacked on Sky. Zane stomped her and mocked her pose before sky reversed a whip and hit another heel trip followed by a big back body drop. Raquel returned and hoisted both opponents for a double fall away slam. Sky escaped from her shoulder and sent us Rodriguez outside.
[00:39:44] Zayn dived and got caught, but Iyo took them both out with an acai moonsaults.
[00:39:50] Back from commercial, sky ran hot springboard into a missile drop kick, but Rodriguez cut her off with a pounce and a lariat for Takyri for two. Raquel then set up the Tijuana bomb but but Iyo made the save and posted her a suicide cross body wiped Rodriguez out. Zane hit a diving elbow that set up a drop kick, sending Raquel over the barricade.
[00:40:17] Kyrie blasted IO with a back fist and went up to the top. Sky ducked the dive and countered into a backslide. Iyo then hit a butterfly backbreaker and went up top for the moonsault. Rodriguez pulls Zane down and dropped her with a lariat.
[00:40:33] Sky then kicked Raquel and set her into the corner, charging into a back body drop to the apron and snapping her neck over the top rope. She followed with a missile drop kick, corner, double knees and then she went up top. Raquel popped up, caught her, but Iyo fired back with a diving tornado ddt.
[00:40:57] Zane then blasted off the turnbuckles and climbed up again, but after Raquel got her boots up on the elbow, Zayn hit the Tawan or Raquel hit the Tijuana bomb on Zayn and it was over. So Raquel Rodriguez gets the last position in the women's elimination chamber match.
[00:41:28] We then got the AJ Styles promo.
[00:41:36] AJ made his entrance, had the full entrance and was visibly emotional, he said. He joked about wearing a suit, but he said the last time he dressed up it ended with him beating down Cody Rhodes.
[00:41:52] He told the crowd that if he got emotional it wasn't because he was sad and then shifted into some gratitude by saying that how special it was to celebrate in Atlanta. Just 45 from his hometown in Gainesville, Styles reflected that not many wrestlers get a moment like this and thank the fans for giving it to him, knowing that at heart he was still just a kid from Gainesville who fell in love with professional wrestling.
[00:42:18] He talked about his career journey, talking about being at TNA's asylum in Nashville and then being in the Tokyo Dome and then going to the bright lights of WrestleMania. He credits some rivalry, some rivals and allies like Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe. He didn't say Samoa Joe, he just said Joe Frankie Kazarian for helping them leave a mark on the business.
[00:42:42] He also talked about Luke Gallows and Carl Anderson, saying that they reminded him how to have fun in wrestling.
[00:42:48] Then when he's having fun, the fans are too.
[00:42:51] Despite accomplishing nearly everything possible in the ring, he admitted that there was one thing he hadn't achieved and that was being a full time father.
[00:43:00] The camera showed that there was his family at ringside and it was funny because he had said that his biggest flexes wasn't as the titles that he won across the globe, but that he was at he had the best wife in the world and all I did is I just, I looked and I just thought about Samoa Joe 2018 just shouting Wendy in the camera before choking out AJ and then also saying that he was going to be their new daddy with AJ like, busted open from a crazy stair spot before, like, spearing him off the table and beating the crap out of him.
[00:43:48] He talked about the birthdays, the games, and the anniversaries that he'd missed over the years.
[00:43:53] He also said that while many people think that it wasn't supposed to end like this, it's actually poetic that it did.
[00:44:05] He had said that, well, it wasn't the ending that he envisioned, that it was poetic because he had debuted at the royal rumble in 2016 and wrestled his final match at the royal rumble in 2026.
[00:44:18] Styles then explained the question about why he hadn't left his gloves in the ring. He emphasized that he was a man of his word, and he said that he wanted to bring them home first and then return to Atlanta to properly leave them in the ring. With that being said, he removed his vest and removed the gloves, and Styles thanked the fans on the bottom of his heart, saying that he wouldn't be anything without their support. And then he loved them right back.
[00:44:47] So he climbed the turnbuckles. He did the two sweets we had. Closing graphics. It was a very nice speech. I really liked it. I really loved the speech for aj.
[00:44:59] I thought it was well constructed. It was. It was very, very good.
[00:45:03] Now, real quickly, I do want to mention that AJ Styles had talked about why he returned. He retired at the Royal rumble instead of WrestleMania.
[00:45:28] He stated that WrestleMania had lost its luster over the years. He also didn't have much of a reason to stay until Mania, considering that he had just returned from a foot injury and didn't want to spend months for his match against Gunther, especially when it didn't have much story.
[00:45:50] He said that it was coming back from an injury to WrestleMania to a match that, to me, didn't have much build. WrestleMania, I'm sorry to say, used to be the most prestigious ple.
[00:46:03] But to me, it's kind of lost its luster a little bit. As far as the Royal Rumble, that's special because it's where I made my debut. To be able to end it where I started is poetic.
[00:46:16] So really, he knew about a lot of this stuff, and he wanted to end his career where he had started it in WWE at the Royal Rumble. So totally get that.
[00:46:37] So as the show's about ready to go off the air, we see the graphics pull up. We see everybody at the top of the ramp coming out and cheering him on.
[00:46:46] And just when you think it's over, the Undertaker's dong hits and everybody's looking around. Why is Undertaker showing up?
[00:46:56] So they rode up on his motorcycle down the ramp.
[00:47:01] He got into the ring and he looked at the vest and the gloves and he questioned whether Styles was really just gonna leave when they had unfinished business between them.
[00:47:14] He talked about how there was a saying of if you see me coming, you're already gone.
[00:47:23] He said he changed that up a little bit and he rephrased it as when you see me coming, it means you're going.
[00:47:31] Before saying that it was esteemed privilege to tell AJ Styles that he would be the next inductee into the 2026 WWE hall of Fame.
[00:47:45] So I was not expecting this.
[00:47:48] I was not expecting that they were going to give him a Hall of Fame send off.
[00:47:54] I thought that they would have just been like, you know what, we're gonna give him his tribute. And I honestly thought they were gonna swerve us all and have somebody attack him. But nobody did.
[00:48:06] And then the fact that they fast tracked his retirement at the Royal Rumble and then got his hall of Fame already in really just speak some volumes. And before I end this review, I want to talk about a comment that was reported by Justin Barrasso of Undisputed.
[00:48:34] He said that Styles was well aware that AEW would have made a major offer if he had decided to wrestle outside side of wbb and it reportedly wouldn't have required much time away from home.
[00:48:48] This was quote from Baracio for as much as WWE claims to be blissfully unaware of what is happening in aew, that isn't the case with Styles getting inducted into WWE hall of Fame. It's severely limits any potential AEW owner Tony Khan had of bringing Styles in for a surprise appearance at the Revolution Pay Per View in March. For AEW, their post WrestleMania show is double or nothing in May, and even that feels too soon for Styles to appear.
[00:49:27] Continue by clarifying that Styles wasn't actively shopping around, but he knew that the door was open.
[00:49:34] He continues to state that that isn't to imply that Styles was looking to wrestle again.
[00:49:40] He meant what he said about spending time at home with his family. But speaking to a few people close to him, Styles was well aware that AEW was willing to make a substantial offer and it was most likely going to be one that wouldn't cost him much time from home.
[00:50:00] So the other thing is that they basically are saying that they're putting him in the hall of Fame so that way he doesn't end up going to aew. And that's completely valid. But the other thing was that they were going to renew his contract for the full year and then he said that he didn't want to renew his contract, so he just said I'll just end it at the Rumble. So again, I'll say this for the episode of Raw, it was so lackluster, so unoriginally, just deflating of any type of care, any type of, you know, importance.
[00:50:43] It really just felt like a bunch of meh thrown together and that just sucks. It really does.
[00:50:55] But let's real quickly talk about some other results that happen over the weekend.
[00:51:05] We had a match between Tomatonga and Ilia Dragon off where Tonga beat Dragon off, which I was surprised.
[00:51:15] In a qualifying triple threat for the Women's Elimination Chamber, Kiana James beat Charlotte Flair and Nia Jax, which was very, very surprising came when Flair had gotten next in the figure eight and Kiana slid underneath the bridge and rolled up flare to win the match.
[00:51:38] We then had Oba Femi in another squash match with Kit Wilson.
[00:51:43] Tiffany Stratton beat Alba Fire in another qualifying match, Trick Williams beat Carmelo Hayes and Damian Priest.
[00:51:54] We had Rhea Ripley beating Julia via dq. And then the main event, like I mentioned, Alistair Black beat Randy Orton.
[00:52:05] And then for nxt, I'll go into this before we'll go into the preview for Elimination Chamber. But for NXT they had a bunch of title matches.
[00:52:21] The first title match that ended up happening was the vanity project of Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes with Jackson Drake, who is the Evolve champion, beat Dark State after interference from Tony d' Angelo.
[00:52:42] We then had Keanu Carver be Sean Legacy in a decent match.
[00:52:49] Then in a WWE speed title triple threat, Elio LaFleur, who is a 27 year old Frenchman from Paris, beat Jasper Troy and Eli Knight to become the new Speed Champion.
[00:53:07] And then in the shock of the entire night for the NXT women's title, Zarya betrayed Soul Ruka.
[00:53:20] She gave her a spear in an F5 before the match even started between her and JC Jane. And then when the bell rung, Jane hit the rolling encore a B rolling elbow and beat Sol Ruka in four seconds.
[00:53:37] So that breakup happened.
[00:53:40] And then in a WWE Women's Speed title number one Contendership Tournament semifinal Theo hall beat Blake Monroe after Jada Parker came out and attacked Blake.
[00:53:58] Dude, I'll just say this, I can't believe that a year ago Blake Monroe, Mariah May was in one of the best women's matches of this current era next to Bayley and Sasha and now she just lost in under two minutes To Theo hall really shows you the creative process with these former AEW stars.
[00:54:30] We also had Uriah Connors beat Kale Dixon and then in the main event, Miles Bourne beat Ethan Page to become the new NXT North American champion.
[00:54:48] So my, my biggest thing with this, and this is what I'm hoping, is that we eventually are going to get Ethan Page on the main roster probably post WrestleMania. He'll probably have a rematch at standing deliver, but we do not know yet. But he most likely will be main roster in the near future.
[00:55:19] So moving on to the elimination chamber preview.
[00:55:23] Like I mentioned, it will happen February 28th from the United center in Chicago, Illinois.
[00:55:30] We have four matches set up, two big title matches and then the elimination chambers.
[00:55:37] We got Becky lynch versus AJ Lee. I'll be fully honest, as much as I would love to and I honestly think that they should have just waited to do this at WrestleMania. I believe that most likely AJ Lee will walk out as champion and then Becky can maybe be in like a triple threat with Natty, aj, AJ herself and maybe even add Maxine to it, make it a fatal four way. I would love that. I think that would be really, really great.
[00:56:09] Just think about that.
[00:56:11] Then we got the women's number one contendership elimination chamber match. Oscar Alexa Bliss, Rhea Ripley, Raquel Rodriguez, Tiffany Stratton and Kiana James.
[00:56:24] This is the chance to face Jade Cargo, If I'm fully honest, Because it will be the only thing that will be good enough.
[00:56:50] If they really wanted to, I would say that they should do Rhea Ripley versus Jade.
[00:56:57] It's gonna be crap at WrestleMania, but I think Rhea can give Jade a meaningful performance performance if she wanted to.
[00:57:08] I don't see that from Oscar. I don't see that from Raquel. I definitely don't see them running it back with Tiffany Stratton.
[00:57:15] So let me get mommy. Winning the elimination chamber for the women's for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, CM Punk versus Finn Balor. This is honestly just throwaway.
[00:57:33] I got Punk winning this.
[00:57:36] Finn will go on and wrestle for the IC title and get his WrestleMania moment.
[00:57:41] And then for the undisputed WWE Championship, we have Rainy or in Cody Rhodes, La Knight, Jay USO Trick Williams and Javon Evans.
[00:57:56] I did say this.
[00:57:59] I said that if they were to do a multi man, that's fine. I'm gonna hate it.
[00:58:05] But one thing I will say is that if it's Randy and Cody as the final two, whoever takes the pin needs to turn heel at WrestleMania. If it is Randy, great. If it's Cody, it's even better because if Cody costs Randy the title at WrestleMania and starts a heel run, that will be great.
[00:58:34] If Cody decides to get the title match and Randy goes heel and absolutely punt kicks Cody's head off of his shoulders, that will be great.
[00:58:50] But all in all, as much as people want, I don't think they're going to give it to La Knight.
[00:58:58] With that being said, let's go ahead and look at the ratings for some of the wrestling that has been happening.
[00:59:18] The Dynamite ratings for February 18th on CBS did a 692,000 with a 0.12.
[00:59:39] This is slightly up almost 15% from the week previous, which was at 604,000 and was at a again a.12.
[01:00:00] So that at least accounts to that.
[01:00:05] I will mention that one of the big things is that last Week's NXT did 744,000 viewers, which was the most since last year in July.
[01:00:31] For reference, the week before February 10, 2026 did 637,000.
[01:00:42] So a massive increase.
[01:00:45] But in the demo rating there was a massive drop. It went from a 0.12 to a.09.
[01:00:55] It's honestly scratches my head because how could the rating be lower but the viewership be higher?
[01:01:07] Collision also did a 470,000 with a.08 demo.
[01:01:17] Impact last week did a 233,000 viewership with a.05 demo, so legitimately staying right in that spot.
[01:01:34] And meanwhile, Smackdown has not yet came out with its releases unless that that has came out.
[01:01:55] Oh, here it is.
[01:01:57] So the February 20th edition of Smackdown, which was on Syfy, did 1,113,000, ended a 0.29, which was actually really, really good, went up by 7%.
[01:02:21] The demo went up by 12%. The week previous, which was a preemption, was a 0.26. So pretty, pretty good.
[01:02:34] So very interesting that for the substitution of it being on Sci Fi, it did very, very well.
[01:02:47] Now let's end it off with a subject that has raised a lot of eyebrows on whether or not that, you know, this matters.
[01:03:01] You know, I totally get it. People don't think that that this stuff really matters. I get it.
[01:03:10] They they don't think that awards matter and they don't think that they should be considered. But in all honesty, like when you look at awards, it shows you who do you think that they did or how do you think that they did like for the year.
[01:03:32] So anywho, let's go over some of these awards.
[01:03:37] Worst gimmick of the year, number five went to Jay Uso number four, Toni Storm. Number three, House of Torture. Number two, Wyatt Six. And then for the all time of 2025, the worst gimmick of the year with 246 votes went to Heal John Cena.
[01:04:01] The best Gimmick, however, number five, Joe Hendry. Number four, Young Bucks. Number three, El Grande Americano. Number two, Adam Page. And for the best gimmick of 2025 with 447 votes went to Toni Storm. So Toni Storm got 33 votes as the worst gimmick, but off 447 votes as the best gimmick. I don't understand personally with me, I'm, I, I'm okay with the Toni Storm gimmick. I think that 2025 wasn't the best year. It was definitely 2024. But in all honesty, like Toni Storm has given it her all to try to showcase that AEW women's roster. And it is growing and growing and growing.
[01:04:45] And you know, she's doing her best with that. And since dropping the title she's kind of held back a little bit. She's been doing this program with the Death Riders and Yuta and Marina Shafir and Orange Cassidy. So that's really, really good and refreshing.
[01:05:02] Best booker of the year, number five, Deadlock Pro Wrestling. Number four, Paul Levesque. Number three, CMLL Number two, Taro Okada. Which I don't know if he was the stardom or if he was the New Japan booker. Let's go ahead and let's see this. So this was the president of stardom and director overseeing management strategies for New Japan. Okay, so he's in charge of stardom. Yeah. That's the one thing Wrestling observer absolutely loves, loves its stardom glaze. I don't know why, but the number one booker for the year for 2025 went to of course Tony Khan with 655 votes.
[01:05:54] Worst promotion of the year, number five, AAA, number four, Game Changer Wrestling. Number three, Total Non Stop Action Wrestling. Number two, Nationaling Wrestling Alliance. And number one, with 420 votes, WWE. Honestly WWE did far better with some things than most, especially when you compare them to the other four promotions in here. I think freaking NWA absolutely sucks. I think that gcw, as much as it wants to try and be something popular, it's not underground anymore. Everybody knows it and everybody thinks it's garbage wrestling. I get it. Aaa, the reason why it was ranked so low is because you can't deny like they're also having very good sales also next to CMLL. So WWE is helping Triple Triple A out. And AW is helping out CMLO.
[01:06:56] Worst match of the year.
[01:07:00] Number five, Adam Copeland versus Jon Moxley.
[01:07:04] Number four, Mikey Mikey EO versus Mickey James. Number three, Brock Lesnar versus John Cena. Number two, Minoru Suzuki versus Butterbean. And number one, John Cena versus Cody Rhodes with 328 votes.
[01:07:25] Worst television show, number five, AW Collision. Number four, NWA Power.
[01:07:32] Number three, TNA Impact. Number two, WWE Smackdown. And the number one with 401 votes, WWE NXT.
[01:07:41] Listen, NXT as a product might seem very outdated, it might seem convoluted and nobody is really understanding it. But you can't deny that in 2025 they were delivering the best young stars of any promotion. They were doing it better than AEW because AEW follows the same exact formula. At least with nxt they try and they try to make great young champions. They did it with Obafemi, they did it with Trick Williams. They did it with Javon Evans. Even in the women's division, you look at people like Sol Ruka, Lola Vice, Jada Parker. Okay, they are elevating younger talent in nxt and they are trying to do more and more and more. But not everybody is a fan of their booking.
[01:08:32] The most disgusting promotional tactic. Number five, the CM Punk apology to Saudi Arabia. Number four, the Raja Jackson incident. And then these next three all are basically in partnership with wwe, TKO and ufc. Number three, the Trump relationship. Number two, the Saudi relationship. And the number one with two hundred and sixty votes, the worst disgusting promotional tactic of the year went to WWE bringing back Brock Lesnar. Like I mentioned, not a lot of people want to cheer for Brock Lesnar. I completely understand that. But you can't deny that. Yes, he's bringing star power.
[01:09:11] So just remember that worst major wrestling show, Russell Palooza with 249 votes.
[01:09:25] And then right under that was Survivor series which had 230 votes. And then below that was Knight of Champions. GCW. The People versus GCW.
[01:09:35] WWE WrestleMania night two as well.
[01:09:41] Listen, I get it. That Russell Palooza was absolutely the crazy crap.
[01:09:47] It. It sucks so bad. I'm telling you, it sucks so bad.
[01:09:53] Match of the Year Number five, Hangman Adam Page versus Will Osprey.
[01:10:05] Number four, Mystico versus MJF three. Adam Page versus John Moxley. Two. Bandido versus Konosuke Takeshita. And the number one with 224 votes went to Kenny Omega versus Gabe Kid.
[01:10:27] The best non wrestler of the year.
[01:10:35] Number five, Prince Nana. Number four, Renee Paquette. Number three, Stokely Hathaway. Number two, Paul Heyman. And number one with 658 votes, Don Callis. I don't know what's so interesting about him.
[01:10:50] Legit. The guy, every single time he comes out says the same exact thing. Has over 20 different people working for him. He's wanting to be the next Bobby the Brain heating or Bobby the Brain hidden. But the most underrated. This one got me because I, I absolutely didn't understand why on earth this guy who by the way only had like 20 something matches the entire year and all of it mostly was in trios matches for Ring of honor.
[01:11:21] Number five, Rey Fenix. Number four, Brody King. Number three, Commander. Number two, Javon Evans. And number one, with 223 votes, the Beast Mortos.
[01:11:30] Sure, he was underrated.
[01:11:33] How many big pay per view matches was he in?
[01:11:35] I'll tell you, almost zero.
[01:11:39] Now, most overrated. Oh. Oh boy.
[01:11:43] We have number five, Seth Rollins. Number four, Evil. Number three, Jake Cargill. Number two, CM Punk. He had 177 votes. And finally, number one, the most overrated gimmick in 2025 with 322 votes went to Jey Uso.
[01:12:04] Yeah, I could see why that that happened.
[01:12:07] Best flying wrestler, number five, Javon Evans. Number four, Commander. Number three, Bandito. Number two, Will Ospreay, even though he didn't wrestle the second half of the entire year. But number one with 511 votes for the best High Flyer, Mascary Mascara Dorada.
[01:12:29] Pretty decent.
[01:12:31] Most charismatic. Number five, Adam Page.
[01:12:35] Number four, Mystico.
[01:12:38] Number three, Toni Storm.
[01:12:41] Number two, CM Punk.
[01:12:45] And then finally the number one most charismatic wrestler went to John Cena with 159 votes.
[01:13:03] So pretty decent.
[01:13:08] Most improved.
[01:13:11] Pretty interesting.
[01:13:15] Number five, Kevin Knight. Number four, Marina Shafir. Number three, Kendall Gray. Number two, Kyle Fletcher. And number one, with 208 votes. Most approved 2025 went to Harley Cameron. Listen, I like the Harley Cameron gimmick, but it's honestly so stupid for television.
[01:13:33] Feud of the year.
[01:13:35] Number five, Centimeter Punk versus Seth Rollins. Number four, Tony Storm versus Mariah May. Number three, Mystico versus MJF.
[01:13:44] Number two, Saya Kananabi. Or Kanani versus Tam Nakano. And then number one, Adam Page versus Jon Moxley. With 504 votes.
[01:13:58] Women's Wrestling MVP.
[01:14:01] Number five, Saree.
[01:14:03] Number four, Iyo Sky. Number three, Mercedes Monat. Number two, Toni Storm. And number one again, Saya Kanabe. With 458 votes. Again, it's a stardom wrestler. I don't know who she is.
[01:14:17] Best weekly television show Number five, Smackdown. Number four, Raw. Number three, Collision. Collision had better votes than Raw.
[01:14:29] Number two, CMLL Super Vernas.
[01:14:33] And number one, which is gone by a a point system.
[01:14:44] But number one ended up being AEW Dynamite, which had 811 votes.
[01:15:01] Best on interviews, number five, MJF. Number four, CM Punk. Number three, Toni Storm. Number two, Jon Moxley. Number one went to Adam Page. I don't like this at all.
[01:15:13] Adam Page won the best on the mic. I do not understand why. Why on earth did Adam Page, who basically does the exact same country gimmick every single time he got Best on interviews.
[01:15:28] Promotion of the year Number five, New Japan. Number four, wwe. Number three, World Wonder Ring Stardom.
[01:15:37] Number two, All Elite. And then number one, cmll. The reason why a lot of CMLL got some credit here was because CMLL had a very decent year. It was the first time they sold over a million.
[01:15:56] First time they ever had sellouts. So I completely understand, but it was very, very mid.
[01:16:03] The most outstanding wrestler, Number five, Cere. Number four, Will Ospreay. Number three, Kyle Fletcher. Number two, Bandido. And then number one went to Konosuke Takeshna.
[01:16:17] Totally understandable. Tag team of the year, number five, Yodo Ice and Oscar. Number four, Mystico.
[01:16:27] Mascaria Dorada Neon. Number three, Brody King. And Bandido. Number two, ftr. And finally, number one, the Young Bucks. I don't think the Young Bucks really did enough to become Taxi Mother Year.
[01:16:42] Also, best announcer.
[01:16:50] I want to mention this.
[01:16:53] The best television announcer, number five, Michael Cole. Number four, Nigel McGinnis. Number three, Excalibur. Number two, Walker Stewart, who basically is a substitution for Ria Nicobani for new Japan. Number one, with 315 votes went to Bryan Danielson. I don't like that at all.
[01:17:12] I don't get it.
[01:17:13] He doesn't add a lot of insight.
[01:17:17] Worst television announcer, number five, Tony Schiavone. Number four, Vic Joseph. Number three, Michael Cole. Number two, Pat McAfee. And at number one with 516 votes went to Booker T.
[01:17:31] The Best Major wrestling show.
[01:17:34] Number five, aw all out.
[01:17:36] Number four, aw revolution. Number three, stardom. All star grand queendom.
