[00:00:54] After a long winter break we are back in the studio and this is the biggest time right now because this is the start of the road to WrestleMania and it will be being kicked off on this Saturday with the Royal Rumble from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. We're going to go over that. We're going to go over the match card, go over who I believe will be some surprises in the Rumble and so far who has been announced for the Royal Rumble. We'll also go over the go home version of Monday Night Raw which held from Toronto, Ontario, Canada this past week, which could or could not have been the last televised match of AJ Styles WWE career and it was a good one because it was against the World Champion CM Punk. We'll also go over some wrestling news in and out of the last week or two. We got Evil leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling. We also got reports the powerhouse Hobbs has has left AEW and is officially signed with wwe. More on that. And then we got to talk about TNA on AMC with Impact because they had their second episode after their debut which we'll talk about actually on today's episode because I already had my little discussion about it on my ex which by the way you could follow at the Rocking Review that's R A W K I N G review on X where I do sometimes when I'm away from studio or I can't be able to produce an actual episode. I basically go in there and I just go on X and I do like a 10 minute spiel about what I thought, you know, what was good and what was not good.
[00:03:05] We also got to be talking about Trey Miguel and the situation with him and Warner Brothers discovery in AEW and why was he released from his contract. But let us get started.
[00:03:21] So the first news we're going to talk about is Evil, the King of Darkness over there in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
[00:03:32] He was announced to be leaving the company.
[00:03:39] Yes that is true.
[00:03:41] He has left the company and now he will be probably moving on to bigger and better things again. I I don't know exactly what is going to happen from this, but New Japan Pro Wrestling confirmed on Sunday that Eva will be departing from the promotion following the expiration of his contract at the end of the month.
[00:04:11] The organization announced the news on its official website stating that the 39 year old will leave at the end of January.
[00:04:19] Statement reads thank you for supporting New Japan Pro Wrestling. After careful consideration and discussions with New Japan management, Evil, who has been a long standing member of the New Japan roster, will leave New Japan Pro Wrestling at the expiry of his contract at the end of January 2026. We apologize to fans for the sudden nature of this announcement. New Japan Pro Wrestling wishes Evil with the best in his future activities. Evil lost the Never Openweight champion to former Olympic gold medalist Judo winner Aaron Wolf in Wolf's debut at Russell Kingdom at the Tokyo Dome on January 4. No announcement has been made regarding his future bookings or destination.
[00:05:08] There has been some reports of interest from wwe, including Super J cast and recent comments from Brian Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer.
[00:05:18] Taka Aki Wananabe joined New Japan dojo in 2011 before leaving for a learning excursion in the United States in 2013. He returned to the company in 2015, rebranding as the King of Darkness Evil and joining Toshino Naito as a original member of Los Ingro Nablus de Japan.
[00:05:41] His career reached a turning point in 2020 where he won the New Japan cup and defected to Bullet Club, subsequently defeating Naito to become the first wrestler to hold the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships simultaneously. Evil later formed his own sub faction, House of Torture, which became known for its frequent interferences in matches. So the main thing is, is that Evil has been around and you know, he has been a name synonymous with New Japan Pro Wrestling. I've heard about House of Torture for years.
[00:06:19] I remember that time during the Pandemic.
[00:06:22] During the Pandemic when, you know, Evo won the New Japan, the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and he also had the Intercontinental Championship at the time.
[00:06:35] So you know, that was very big for his career. And again, like, like they said, he's been around there for literally almost like a decade and a half. So the fact that Evil was now going to be leaving and could potentially be signed by either AEW or wwe.
[00:06:55] WWE has recently actually came out and said that they have trademarked, which we'll talk again about trademarks in a little bit when we come to Powerhouse Hobbs. They have stated they, they have trademarked the name Sinister, which could be Evil's new name, which I honestly don't mind at all because that is actually a pretty cool name and that goes pretty well with, you know, the fact of his name being evil in New Japan. So a lot of people will recognize him if he's just that one name character or that sounds menacing.
[00:07:28] Next we gotta talk about TNA Impact from this last Thursday, January 22nd.
[00:07:39] So the first TNA Impact absolutely was, It was something.
[00:07:52] The whole thing was that DNA on its first impact debut for AMC.
[00:08:05] Everybody was like hyping it up. They were hyping it up. And we were talking about this before we went on break about like, oh man, they are, you know, we, we are really ready to see what ends up happening from, you know, this debut for Thursday night Impact amc.
[00:08:25] You know what, what is going to happen here?
[00:08:28] Are they finally going to get that number two promotion going and like what's going to happen?
[00:08:34] So we got to the show which was on January 15th and there was only three matches.
[00:08:48] There was a six man tag team match with Elijah and the Hardy's versus Order 4 with Jason Hodge, John Skyler and Mustaf Ali. Then we got a Knockouts World tag team title match where the elegant Spran beat the inspiration, the former iconics of Cassie lee and Jesse McKay to win back the TNA Knockouts Championships. And then we had the main event which was Mike Santana regaining his TNA World Championship from Frankie Kazarian in a match that had a couple of different spots and botches.
[00:09:30] And everybody was crapping on this for so much, for so many reasons. The promo segments that cluttered the show, how poor the booking was, how poor the matches were. There were only three matches, it wasn't really wrestling and all the main things. And they had by the way, AJ Styles be on the show to start off the show on AMC and then did nothing other than a backstage segment where he confronted Frankie Kazarian. That was it.
[00:10:08] So basically they did very, very poor.
[00:10:12] They ended up doing a 04 in its demo rating and topped at 173000 viewers for the premiere episode.
[00:10:31] But in their second episode they did keep majority of the audience. They got 171000 viewers. So a little bit less. And they did go down in the 1849 demo scoring a.03.
[00:10:47] And I like we talk about the main, the main thing that happened on the show, which was, which was in the main event and, and in the main event because at Genesis, which was the pay per view right after this, uh, jdc, also known as Fontango, Johnny Curtis, he ended up having his last match. So he was retiring and he had it with his fellow stable mate in the system who was Eddie Edwards. So for those who don't know who the System is. The System consists of Moose, Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers, former Kurt Hawkins jdc, and Alicia Edwards, who is the wife of Eddie.
[00:11:43] So basically because JDC was retiring, they were going to replace a member of the System to basically fill the gap in the group.
[00:11:55] So in the main event segment, they had everybody in the System come out. And then JDC revealed that the new member of the System was none other than Bear Bronson.
[00:12:11] And for those who don't know who Bear Bronson is, Bear Bronson was a part of the tag team known as the Iron Savages in aew and he got released.
[00:12:26] I'm not sure if he's the one that got some of the backlash from the reason behind his release. I don't know if it was because of a charge or something that happened with authorities and whatnot, but basically he ended up signing to TNA. TNA's had him for a little while now, so they announced that he is going to be the new member of the System. And honestly, it's fine, it doesn't matter, you know, whatever. You need another person in there. So everybody is getting all emotional and they're hugging JDC and they're like, wow, it's his last time. And then Eddie Edwards hugs JDC and then in a twist, he low blows the former Fandango.
[00:13:14] And then before anything can happen, Brandon Myers ends up attacking Moose alongside Bear Bronson.
[00:13:25] And then to make the save, Cedric Alexander. Babyface Cedric Alexander comes out after Eddie Edwards reveals that they didn't tell the entire plan to Moose and told them that they were kicking out two members.
[00:13:40] And then who is the replacement for Moose? Well, as Cedric Alexander comes out, he decks Moose with a chair and now he is the other member of the System. So now they kick out Moose and JDC and they replace them with Bear Bronson and Cedric Alexander. So Cedric Alexander turns heel. So does Bear Bronson. And then also the team as a whole is now back to being a heel.
[00:14:09] One key thing to talk about here is that they returned with the Feast or Fired match, which is a iconic gimmick match in TNA where there are four briefcases on the four ring post around the ring.
[00:14:25] And essentially it's based off of random choosing. So you grab the briefcase and you don't know which one has what, but there are three opportunities in three of the briefcases. There's a world Championship opportunity, there is X Division championship opportunity, and then there's the International championship opportunity or the the Intercontinental Championship. No, it's the International. Okay, I just wanted to double check so. Which is, by the way, currently held by Channing Stacks Lorenzo, who's on nxt.
[00:15:03] So basically the whole thing there is that the purpose is, is that there is a fourth briefcase and in that fourth briefcase there is a pink slip, which means that you will get fired.
[00:15:21] So in the match, they, they put a bunch of random people in here, and the winners were Eddie Edwards, Eric Young, Steve Macklin and Trey Miguel, which we'll get to in a moment. But all four of those guys got a briefcase and then it was spoiled because there was audio that got leaked from the next show that they were practicing or whatever they were filming or taping whatever that Eddie Edwards did in fact get the World Championship shot. So he is next in line to challenge Mike Santana for the World Heavyweight Championship.
[00:16:03] So the other three is Eric Young, Steve Macklin and Trey Miguel. Now probably Trey Miguel might get the X Division Championship because he was, he's. He's a former X Division champion.
[00:16:20] But now that is concerning because either Eric Young or Steve Macklin is going to get either the inner national championship or they're gonna get fired. And a lot of people are pointing the finger that Steve Macklin is going to get the pink slip. He is going to go away. He is leaving TNA after contractual obligations and contractual disputes.
[00:16:42] So he's gonna leave tna, which is super crazy because, like, he could definitely be used. And I would love to see a thing between him and Ethan Page for the North American Championship. I think that would be great. Even though he's like very, very old and he had his time in nxt, I would just want to give him like something because, like, I don't see where he could fit on the main roster right now. Even though he's got an incredible gimmick, you know, being who he's been with TNA for the last like four something years. So really cool stuff.
[00:17:14] But going back to Trey Miguel because we got to talk about that. So Trey Miguel originally was supposed to sign with the Rascals. We know that part.
[00:17:31] And the Rascals all got signed. So that was I, Trey, that was Trey Miguel, Zachary Wentz, Desmond Xavier, the former Wesley and Myron Reed, they were supposed to part ways with TNA and go to aew. And that was the other reason why some stuff ended up happening with the debut episode. Because wwe, of course, with their involvement with tna, they got permission to take Leon Slater, who's the X Division Championship, off of their card and, and send him on the UK tour that they were on.
[00:18:09] And he ended up facing Cedric Alexander on smackdown.
[00:18:12] So for the not Cedric Alexander, he ended up facing Carmelo Hayes for the United States Championship Open Challenge. So they took him off that card and they wanted him to be there for the tour.
[00:18:26] Also. The other reason why that first TNA Impact episode did so poorly was because a lot of the people who were supposed to be on the card had visa issues because of course they had other bookings outside, so they had a lot of visa issues. So they weren't able to come back into the country and be able to do what they needed to do, which was nuts.
[00:18:49] So basically it was a complete cluster and they also took away four main guys who were a big impact, no pun intended, to TNA's roster. But what ended up happening was when they got package and when they debuted on in AEW Television, we only saw Zachary Wentz, Desmond Xavier and Myron Reed. We did not see Trey Miguel. So that sparked a lot of questions. And then on the 19th of January, it was revealed that Trey Miguel in fact got released. So he got hired and then immediately released and this is told by the Observer.
[00:19:42] It is unclear on the full story behind Trey Miguel's AW release, but Brian Alvarez had some updates during Wrestling Observer Radio. Uh, Alvarez and Dave Meltzer discussed the news around Miguel, who said on Sunday that he had been taking some time away from wrestling, with a report coming out that he had been released from his AEW contract days after signing it. Quote, no one really saying much while some people are saying certain things, but my understanding is whatever it is, it came from up above.
[00:20:20] I know that there's a lot of rumors, but it had nothing to do with anybody in AWU talent, anything like that, or Tony Khan. Something happened from way up and why he was released. Miguel Wentz, Xavier and Reed parted ways to TNA when their respective contracts and agreements were up at the year's end. Signing with AEW once Xavier Reed appeared on camera during Saturday's AEW collision in a backstage segment and quote fans quickly noting that Miguel was nowhere to be seen.
[00:20:54] And then more on that story was that the reason why everything ended up happening was because WBD Warner Brothers Discovery ended up choosing to fire him over some comments that had happened. But real quickly we'll, we'll just talk about that.
[00:21:25] But after a wild week for a Trey mcgellis from cage side seats, he returned to TNA after being signed and released from AEW the week before.
[00:21:37] Uh, the Rascals who were under contract had their deals expire recently and they all became free agents. They signed with AEW but only Reed Xavier once appeared on the debut on Collision.
[00:21:52] Miguel issued an apology for unspecified past mistakes around some time. Reports from five plus years ago that recirculated on about some offensive old tweets and his and a rumor claimed that the decision was to fire him came from above Tony Khan and basically Miguel issued another statement and he confirmed that he had been planning to take a break after being let go.
[00:22:21] But support from TNA and others got through and convinced him to keep going.
[00:22:28] He stated on, he stated on January 23rd this was by the way at the morning of the the TNA taping.
[00:22:39] So he basically swerved everybody to believe that he wasn't actually going to be on that TNA show or had any plans of being on that TNA show after he got fired.
[00:22:52] So basically it says that quote, I plan to step away from wrestling after the week I went through. It was really hard on me mentally and emotionally. I don't think I could do it anymore. Thank you to everyone who had my back, especially tna.
[00:23:09] It was a hard, it was hard not to quit but we can't give up. Thank you God. And then immediately he got the fired or a feast or fired briefcase and he said if this is the fired briefcase I will be so pissed. So kind, kind of cool. And then for those wondering what came from the release, what comments are they talking about? Well, it was back in 2020. This was out of Outpost or Out Sports.
[00:23:46] It said that Impact Wrestling's Trey Miguel landed himself in hot water Wednesday after using homophobic language in a now deleted exchange on Facebook.
[00:23:57] Miguel, real name Trey McBrayer, part of popular Rascal Staber stable, responded to a troll comment from another Facebook user by equating being unattractive with being gay.
[00:24:11] I want to put a disclaimer on here. I don't judge anybody for their preference, whatever that they are, but you know, this was a big thing, especially back in 2020.
[00:24:25] Nobody wanted this. Nobody liked this. If you had any type of, any type of background or any type of history with saying any type of homophobic comments, they did not want you to do that.
[00:24:38] One crazy instance of this is of Jay Briscoe. Jay Briscoe had made comments about it in his, you know, previous years in wrestling. And that was why AEW couldn't bring him on to the main roster and couldn't bring him on to to Dynamite while he was still living. And that just sucked because TNT and WBD basically nay that they made that decision to have him on screen. But of course with Mark, nobody has a problem with Mark, but he basically ended up saying this.
[00:25:20] Obviously you're gay.
[00:25:22] Most people as unattractive as you become gay out of fear of rejection from the opposite sex. So you find comfort, ability and familiarity in the same sex and end up matching some who's the same as you gay because there's no other effing options you ugly be. Yeah, that's truth for you.
[00:25:47] Miguel's comments admittedly came in a response to a Facebook user who clearly holds his offensive positions regarding the LGBTQ community, whose clear intent was to troll the well known high flyer. But Miguel's language was inexcusable. Miguel later issued an apology on Wednesday via Facebook saying that he isn't, quote, anti LGBTQ plus and that his comments were not right or tasteful.
[00:26:18] The apology went as such, I am not anti LGBTQ plus. I made some very mean comments to a member of the community in regards to why they were a member and it wasn't right or tasteful. Regardless of the comments made to get me in such an ugly place, I was wrong and I'm not afraid to admit it. Two of my very best friends are members of said community and and I take a bullet for either of them. I won't try to justify anything I said, but I will apologize like a man. If I offended you, then I am genuinely sorry. Please find it in your hearts to forgive me. If you can't forgive me, I do not blame you. But this world needs more love than hate and I'm sorry for contributing to a less desired of the two.
[00:27:04] This wasn't the first time that Miguel had resorted to offensive comments and heated situations Online. Back in 2019, Miguel lashed out on fellow pro wrestler David Starr after he had worn wrestling gear supporting the Black Lives movement. The Twitter exchange quickly turned sour as Miguel's criticism devolved into anti Semitism, including mocking Star, who is Jewish, for posting images of himself crying at a former Nazi concentration camp and visiting the Western Mall in Jerusalem. Miguel also invoked the controversial phrase all lives matter before making light of Star being a victim of revenge.
[00:27:46] Bad word. Can't say that starts with letter P and threatening to repost the video online. Yes, so that was all back in 2020 and again that was during the Me Too movement. So yeah, a lot of people, a lot of people did not like that and most likely WBD just did not want that in their circle and they didn't want to hire somebody like that.
[00:28:14] Which is crazy because like Zachary Wentz years ago was, you know, rumored about being in this domestic relationship and ended up, you know, backfiring and you know, it wasn't really great and you know, he still got signed. So, you know, it's wild. Selective schism, I guess, if that's a word.
[00:28:38] But you know, for the fact that Trey had to go through all of that just sucks because I think Trey Miguel is, is an awesome superstar.
[00:28:50] You know, he's a great high flyer. His X Division run is, you know, quite at the top there.
[00:28:56] So I'm just glad that TNA brought him back. And you know what, I bet you that, you know, if he's genuine and if they wanted to have him be on the main roster in wwe, I think he would do great matches. Like imagine Trey Miguel versus Phoenix.
[00:29:15] Like I. That is one match I could probably think of. I love to see Trey Miguel versus Dragon Lee, Trey Miguel versus Javon Evans. You know, that would be an absolute banger. So I'm glad Trey McGow is back in TNA. I'm glad that, you know, situation got, you know, figured out. But it does suck that Trey Miguel can't be able to join his friends over in all elite wrestling.
[00:29:41] And lastly, we gotta talk about powerhouse Will Hobbs.
[00:29:46] So Powerhouse Hobbs basically ended up leaving AEW back in I believe the beginning of this year.
[00:30:01] So they confirmed that he was being released. They confirmed that he was pretty much done with the company.
[00:30:13] And in his last match he dropped the Trios Championships to Hangman Adam Page and the team of Jet Speed Speedball, Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight.
[00:30:25] So they are the new Trios champions and he left the company.
[00:30:32] And now it was reported last week that he is in fact signed a contract with WWE.
[00:30:43] It was confirmed by Sean Ross Sapp of FIFA.com and then it was later, uh, noted in the following on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter by Dave Meltzer that regarding Will Hobbs, he assigned there and I did see some promo work that he's done.
[00:31:05] He was good in a backstage setting and haven't seen him do a long one in front of a crowd. Those in AEW said they believed he could handle the aspect. Nobody in AEW had anything negative to say about him. With us being told that he had made the decision based off of his family, which would seem to indicate that he would get a better money deal as of that report.
[00:31:32] So as of right now, which is January 28th, neither Hobbs nor WWE has officially announced its signing.
[00:31:40] And it is also remain unclear whether or not he will debut on the main roster or begin his run in nxt.
[00:31:48] I will tell you this right now, he is already going to be spoiler for a Surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble. Now the only other thing that sucks about it is it is not an American crowd.
[00:32:01] I don't know how much Saudi Arabia knows about who powerhouse Will Hobbs is. And also he's probably won't be under that name.
[00:32:13] He has been rumored that he's gonna go undergo a name change and a ring name by the name of Royce Keys, which, you know, sounds very vanilla. But then again you got Ricky Saints and Ricky Starks, so, you know, it is what it is. But uh, man, I am excited to see what we end up getting from Powerhouse Hobbs in, uh, wwe. And you know, where does he go? What is his big fights that he ends up doing?
[00:32:47] Again, they talked about if he's gonna be an nxt, whether or not that's gonna happen. And again, we know that the history that he has with Ricky Saints, you know, they were both in Team Taz together.
[00:33:00] You know, they've had lots of fights between each other. So I, I could definitely see something happening if they choose to have him go to NXT before the main roster.
[00:33:12] Now we will get into the WWE Raw on Netflix, which took place this last Monday in Toronto, Canada.
[00:33:24] We were getting out of Saturday night's main event, which I will say was quite honestly the best Saturday night's main event I have seen since they have resurrected the concept of the show.
[00:33:38] I thought that the tag match with Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez versus EO sky and Rhea Ripley was absolutely spectacular. I thought they did a great job with that.
[00:33:49] They put on an underrated banger with AJ Styles and ShinSuke Nakamura, which AJ did open up the show, uh, on Raw, uh, and then the main event, uh, Fatal Four Way Sami Zayn beat Randy Orton, Trick Williams and Damian Priest to earn his shot at challenging Drew McIntyre for the WWE Undisputed Championship at the Royal Rumble.
[00:34:17] Not personally, my, my first pick. And we'll talk about that more when we go over the Royal Rumble. Uh, but still very good for Sammy. And uh, you know, I'm very, uh, intrigued on what's gonna happen at the Royal Rumble.
[00:34:32] You know, I would not be surprised if he actually ended up winning it and he won the World Champion and went to WrestleMania.
[00:34:39] That would be a change of pace. I think that would be really, really cool. But we'll talk about it later.
[00:34:44] So AJ Styles open show. He set the stage for his match against Gunther, which will also happen at the Royal Rumble. He addressed that Gunther's claims that he plans to end Styles career at the Royal Rumble.
[00:35:00] He firmly pushed back Saying that he wasn't going anywhere yet. Despite saying that 2026 would be his retirement year, Styles told the crowd that well, 2025 belonged to John Cena. There is no reason why 2026 can't be the year of AJ. Styles emphasizes a desire for one more world title run.
[00:35:19] With his back against the wall, he declared that Gunther is not phenomenal.
[00:35:24] And then just when he thought that he was done, CM Punk, the World Champion came out.
[00:35:32] Punk said he respect Styles, but he questioned why he would risk his career against Gunther, insisting that both men still have plenty left in the tank. Punk acknowledged that Styles has beaten Gunther before and when he did beat Gunther, it was after Gunther tapped out behind the ref's back behind his vision.
[00:35:55] So Styles let go of the hold thinking that he won. But as soon as the ref got distracted, Gunther low blowed Styles, powerbombed him and pinned him for the win.
[00:36:08] But he warned Punk did Warren Stiles that if things were to go wrong at the Royal Rumble, he may never get a chance to face each other again.
[00:36:17] Stiles then responded saying that he knows that he can beat both Gunther and Punk.
[00:36:24] After teasing the crowd a bit, Punk accepted the challenge and reminded that everybody that he had promised to be a fighting champion. So he agreed that he would face Styles that night in Toronto with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line. So again I'll say more when we talk about the Royal Rumble, but the fact that they finally were gonna give us for the first time in WWE, first time really in like at that point like 20 something years. Styles versus Punk inside a WWE ring for the World Heavyweight Championship was, was a pretty good thing to see.
[00:37:03] You know I I was thinking a lot of people were definitely hoping on that match same that they were hoping for Finn Balor in his match that he had with Punk the week prior.
[00:37:15] So really good. Open to the show. I like that.
[00:37:18] Stephanie McCair then teamed up with EOS Guy and Rhea Ripley to take on Liv Morgan, Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez in a six woman tag match.
[00:37:28] The match built off of again Saturday night's main event where IO and Rio retain the tag titles against Liv and Roxanne.
[00:37:36] The crowd gave Ripley a huge reaction.
[00:37:39] They were also chanting for IO. Karen Morgan started things off with early attention centering around Vikir and the Devil's kits which quickly got broken up.
[00:37:50] Judgment Day then used distractions and double team tactics to control the match including pulling EO off the apron, isolating Ripley. The action broke down late with some hot tags and some rapid Fire offense. EO cleared House with her strikes in a corner Meteora, while Judgment Day countered with a leg sweep and a code breaker combo for a near fall.
[00:38:12] Ripley eventually took over, delivering Razor's EDS to live on to Raquel and wiping out Roxanne with a clothesline.
[00:38:20] Fakir then dove onto Raquel onto the outside and IO neutralized Liv and Ripley finished Roxanne with a riptide for the pin.
[00:38:31] But then the story continued after the match with Raquel and Stephanie Vaccure fighting and then it was made official afterwards that next week in Philadelphia, Stephanie Vaccure will defend the Women's World Championship against Raquel Rodriguez next week in a Philadelphia street fight on Raw. So pretty good six woman tag match, you know, again with Ria and IO Ria is always going to be on top.
[00:39:02] The the question is, is, you know, where do you put her when it comes to do you want her to stay as this tag team so that way her and IO both are getting the same momentum or are you gonna try to still push her to be that singles competitor?
[00:39:19] You know, are you still gonna try to push her to still try to go for the world champion? Or, you know, maybe, you know, if Vince McMahon probably had the book, he would want Rhea Ripley versus Becky lynch for the IC title at WrestleMania, which again, that might end up happening. Who knows, A lot of people are pointing towards that it's gonna be AJ versus Becky for the IC title with AJ winning the title, which would be crazy.
[00:39:49] But moving on, we had Finn Balor. He was shown backstage reflecting on his match with Punk the previous week in Belfast. Battler said that he had been thinking a lot about that night. While he wanted to become a champion, though, other things can't go his way. Still, he called it one of his most memorable nights in his career. Balor noted that after the match he helped or Punk helped him up and gave him the respect that he wanted and gave him his flowers. And in the emotion, in the moment, he didn't return it. So this time Baller simply told Punk, thank you. Punk then responded by saying that he can't be the best in the world unless he beats the best. He claimed that he doesn't hand out title shots despite he had just handed out AJ Styles a title shot and he leaned into the idea of becoming a fighting champion. And then he told Balor that there aren't many wrestlers like them left and advised him to think about his legacy and warned that he shouldn't be associating around scum like Dominic Mysterio he closed by telling Balor that if you wanted another title shot, he'll have to win the Royal Rumble.
[00:41:06] So Dominic Mysterio, he's been out since December.
[00:41:13] He was at a AAA event and he unfortunately had some shoulder surgery issues.
[00:41:20] So he's been out and he still has the Intercontinental Championship.
[00:41:25] So there is very good chance that he probably will show up in the Royal Rumble.
[00:41:33] We then shifted towards the Vision segment back in the ring.
[00:41:37] They came to the ring flanked by Paul Heyman alongside Braun Breaker returning after his two week suspension. After the week before, Adam Pierce had some involvement in another tag match with the Vision where the Babyface Lucha team won.
[00:41:58] So basically he took a call and Pierce said he wanted to renegotiate Braun Breaker suspension.
[00:42:08] So Braun Baker finally came out and then it was followed by Adam Pierce coming out. And also I should mention that Heyman has given the nickname for Austin Theory as quote the Pressure.
[00:42:26] I don't know why. I'm guessing pressure makes diamonds. I believe that's the analogy.
[00:42:34] He turned to the Raw General manager accusing him of costing of crossing the line with planting brass knucks for Rey Mysterio to use against Austin Theory the week previous and also how he had put his hands on Braun Breaker before suspending him.
[00:42:52] Pierce then came out. He had no music.
[00:42:55] He acknowledged that things got out of hand weeks earlier and admitted that he did put his hands on Breaker first and apologize. Pierce then announced that Breaker was reinstated and had officially entered into the Royal Rumble.
[00:43:12] He then one upped and I purposely believe that he wanted to do this because you know, he wanted to get back at Paul Heyman saying that, you know, Paul Heyman didn't know everything.
[00:43:26] So then he said okay, guess what, I'll give you more because you clearly want more. Heyman, the greedy little walrus.
[00:43:35] He then added Logan Paul, Bronson Reed and Austin Theory and the rest of the division into the Royal Rumble as well.
[00:43:42] He then on the spot booked Austin Theory vs. Rey Mysterio for a chance at redemption.
[00:43:53] The match immediately happened. Theory and Mysterio had a pretty good match with Theory controlling much of the action, targeting Rey both in and out of the ring. Outside interference played a major role as Logan Paul and Bronson Reed, Dragon Lee and Penta all got involved at ringside after a distraction, Theory capitalized by hitting a stomp to score the pinfall on Rey Mysterio.
[00:44:15] After the match, Division lost a full on assault on the Luchadors. Breaker attacked Penta and Dragon Lee with Logan Paul hitting a brutal frog splash and Breaker spearing Pent up before Bronson Reed finished him off with a tsunami.
[00:44:30] During this entire time, Adam Pierce was nowhere to be found. No security, no nothing. And probably that was because of the call. So whoever called him the week before basically told them, like, do not interfere with their matches. Let them do what they want. And, you know, hopefully that gets revealed soon.
[00:44:52] Another thing that ended up happening was they were seeing that during the entire segments, referees were trying to protect Ray with signs that he had legitimately been hurt because they threw up the X during that time. So there is a chance that there is another injury come WrestleMania time for Rey Mysterio. Remember, Rey was supposed to be a part of WrestleMania. He was supposed to take on El Grande Americano, which at the time was chad gable at WrestleMania. But pretty much the night, the smackdown right before, there was a tag match that they had, I believe, with the Creed brothers, that they essentially got Mysterio injured. And it took Mysterio out of the match.
[00:45:39] And it also just took him out until, I want to say November was first match back because he had the segment with Dominic Mysterio when he was, you know, on tv.
[00:45:52] So there is a pretty good chance that Rey might be injured again. But he was seen on the plane with Penta and Dragon Lee, uh, going to, uh, the Royal Rumble. So that is quite interesting.
[00:46:10] We got a promo segment from Natalia the week before in Belfast.
[00:46:20] There was a match between Maxine Dupree and Becky lynch for the Intercontinental Championship.
[00:46:29] And in the match, Natalia put Lynch's foot on the rope and then attacked Maxine after the match.
[00:46:42] So we got this little promo segment and basically she claimed that she was the one who made Maxime, and Maxime failed her by disrespecting that legacy. She dismissed Maxine's recent win, saying that rolling up a legend doesn't make you someone wrestle like me, and warned that it would never happen again.
[00:47:07] Natalia declared that this was a whole new version of herself and made it clear that she isn't setting for small victories. She ended the promo by saying that she is once again done, or once she was done with Maxine, she would be coming for everything. Punctuating it with a line that when Natalia evolates Natty decimate. So the Natty Neidhart, low key legend Persona that she has had outside of wwe, she's been doing it for bloodsport. Gcw. Aaa. She's done that gimmick where she's not like the prim and proper Natalia on WWE television. She's more of like the hardcore style, you know, I guess maybe like, you know, bit of Owen Hart, you know, I don't know exact. I don't exactly know more of like a shoot fight base, you know, Persona that is really, really cool. I like that gimmick of natty.
[00:48:12] Everybody's been trying to get her to do that on the main roster. And again, you know, again, Natalia is, you know, still very, very, very relevant when it comes to being in the ring and you know, for the fact that, you know, she's been doing this for, for so long and you know, she's 43 right now, so it would be great if she started that gimmick pretty much right now.
[00:48:46] We then shifted to a sit down interview with Michael Cole and Gunther.
[00:48:54] Cole questioned why Gunther wouldn't simply grant AJ Styles a rematch instead of forcing him to put his career on the line.
[00:49:01] Gunther replied, saying that he had nothing to gain unless he ended Styles career. When Cole suggested Styles just wanted to Entertain fans throughout 2026, Gunther dismissed the idea, saying that he's tired of the old timer overstaying their welcome and chasing one last moment moments he believes that belong to him.
[00:49:23] He then lumped Stiles with the names of Bill Goldberg and John Cena, claiming both were chasing moments and that he put an end to them. He then turned his attention to Cole, bluntly telling him that he also fits the quote old timer category.
[00:49:40] Gunther then asked Cole when he planned to hang it up and even threatened that he could kick the chair out from under him, end his career on the spot.
[00:49:51] He then closed the interview and backed off. And he said, actually I don't want to do that because I want to see you at the Royal Rumble call when I end the career of AJ Styles and you say that the career of AJ Styles is over at the hands of Gunther. And then he leaned back in his chair and just chuckled while Cole just sat there uneasy again.
[00:50:16] That is how you cast a villain. That is why he's the number one heel right now in pro wrestling, okay? There is no other heel right now in pro wrestling that is hotter than Gunther, okay? Gunther is a powerhouse. Gunther is a madman that will not be stopped.
[00:50:35] So I am very much looking forward to that match at the Royal Rumble.
[00:50:39] Adam Pierce was then shown backstage finishing up a phone call. Finn Balor approached him, requested entry into the Royal Rumble, but Pierce shut him down by saying that the Rumble was already full before walking away.
[00:50:54] So, so, so you mean to tell me that in A list of 30 people, the Rumble, which at that point had only like had half of the entire roster or half of the field pretty much claiming in the clearing they were in the Royal Rumble. Such names as Obafemi, Cody Rhodes, you know, Randy Orton, Jacob Fatu, all the Luchadors division.
[00:51:26] You know, you pretty much had about like 15, 17 people already announced that they were going to be in the match.
[00:51:32] And then you end up saying that the actual Royal Rumble is full.
[00:51:41] I don't believe that.
[00:51:43] You know, it's gonna be really, really stupid.
[00:51:46] Is Judgement Day gonna take out somebody so that way he can get into the Rumble?
[00:51:51] I definitely don't think Finn's gonna win it, so that's already off the table.
[00:51:57] Immediately after Liv, Morgan confronted Balor, criticizing him for thanking CM Punk after Punk embarrassed him by beating him in his hometown or his home country, I should say.
[00:52:08] Liv then told Balor that Punk doesn't want him to be champion, but the Judgment Day does, reminding him that Judgment Day is his family.
[00:52:17] And Balor pushed back slightly, telling Liv that the situation isn't as simple as she thinks and that he needs time to figure things out.
[00:52:27] We then shifted to a meaningless four way tag team. Number one contenders match for the tag team titles. American.
[00:52:38] Sorry, not American Alpha, Alpha Academy. Otis and Akira Tozawa. The New Day with Grayson Waller. American made the Creed brothers and then Los Americanos which is a Bravo and then Rejos which by the way is Pete Dunn and Tyler Bates. For those who do not remember I the match quickly shifted when Otis got involved immediately ran over everybody. Otis ran wild hitting the Caterpillar before being swarmed by the other teams. Desire stepped in to make the save.
[00:53:14] A bunch of big suicide dives to everybody on the outside as Tazawa set up a diving Centaur on a Kofi Waller tripped him on the ropes only for Jey USO to Super Kick Waller over the barricade.
[00:53:29] Otis then came back into the ring slamming Julius Creed on a Brutus Creed before Tozawa finished things off with a senton on Julius to score the pinfall. And with the win, Alpha Academy have now become the number one contenders for the WB Tag Team Champions.
[00:53:47] The Usos, which by the way Jimmy has been out so he was not on the international tour for personal reasons, probably to help Naomi with the delivery. So kudos for WWE letting Jimmy, uh, even though he's a tag champion, um, to be at home with his wife, um, and be there for, you know, their baby's birth, um, that is really, really classy of them.
[00:54:16] We then were shown the vision backstage discussing their strategy. Now that all of them were in the Royal Rumble. Logan Paul then spoke up as the unofficial spokesman for the group, saying that they need to enter the match with one goal and one quote vision in mind, making it clear that the priority of ensuring a Royal Rumble victory was for Braun Breaker.
[00:54:38] So everybody's planned in the vision, including Theory, Reed and even Logan Paul is that they need to have Broad Breaker win the Royal Rumble.
[00:54:54] We had the main event went about 18 minutes.
[00:54:58] CM Punk vs AJ Styles for the World Heavyweight Championship.
[00:55:03] They had some Crips chop exchanges near false.
[00:55:08] Styles quickly took control with a drop kick and a sliding knee and then they went into commercial break. Out of break, Punk rallied with a net Breaker, his bulldog and his lifting knee and he had a shining rizzard before he thought he was gonna go for the gts.
[00:55:26] Some sharp strikes and a corner splash and both men continuously were countering each other's finishes.
[00:55:35] Styles blocking the GTS and Punk escaping many Styles Clash attempts, including holding on to the ropes.
[00:55:41] There was at one point where Styles went for another sliding knee on the apron, but Punk caught him and hit a GTS to the floor only for Styles to beat the count back in. Styles nearly stole the match by playing possum and catching Punk with a sudden Styles clash for a close near fall.
[00:56:00] As both men struggled to get the position late, Finn Balor appeared and drop kicked Punk into the corner, knocking Styles out of the ring, forcing the referee to call a disqualification.
[00:56:14] After the bell, Balor unleashed a series of attacks on Punk, repeatedly driving him into the barricade with drop kicks before throwing him back in and delivered three consecutive coup de gras before standing over him as the show went off the air.
[00:56:31] So it is clear that now that Finn Balor, if he can't get into the Rumble, he is just going to get to the top first by attacking CM Punk and being Punk's enemy.
[00:56:48] So it is way too soon for for age for CM Punk to have a title match at the Royal Rumble, but be quite interesting if they did.
[00:57:03] So speaking of the Royal Rumble. Well, we'll end off with that.
[00:57:08] Royal Rumble will be happening at 2 o' clock Eastern Standard Time at the King Abdullah Financial District Arena.
[00:57:18] So for those who do not know, it is a temporary mega structure that is being built specifically for the Royal Rumble.
[00:57:32] So this is true.
[00:57:34] So they have not built this at all.
[00:57:40] So this is a temporary.
[00:57:43] This is a temporary arena that they're using. So they're not even using the regular arenas that they use. They're making an actual arena from scratch and Just so you know, they built this in just under 20 days.
[00:57:59] I am not joking to you.
[00:58:01] January 5, the first photo that was taken, nothing was on the land, just a clear plot of land.
[00:58:10] January 15th, they finally got around the structure. And then January 25th, they got a roof over it.
[00:58:20] They got incredible seating.
[00:58:26] It is really, really looking good.
[00:58:28] And even crazier, they have the emblem of the WWE logo on the sides of the building.
[00:58:37] Okay. This is how temporary that this building even is.
[00:58:42] This is wild. And the thing is, is I don't even know.
[00:58:47] I don't know what the heck like this is going to look like.
[00:58:52] This is like looking. This is looking super crazy. I've never seen a freshly built stadium out of thin air be the stadium that they're gonna use for this event.
[00:59:07] It's crazy.
[00:59:09] So it is part of the, the key FOD hub, which is used as a business and lifestyle place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
[00:59:22] So they're straight up making this arena that is, is going to sit however it is, you know, open sky. They do like that.
[00:59:35] They like the, the open sky gimmick, I think it is, and that's why they like it.
[00:59:41] But one of the other cool things is they have massive statue icons for, or not statual, uh, structural icons for, uh, La Knight and Roman Reigns. They got a big like Roman Reigns finger with the glove doing the ones. And then they have an La Knight. Yeah.
[01:00:06] Catchphrase on some type of structure. So they are legit making this like a mega event for wwe. So basically, if you wonder, this is like a precursor to, to what we could get in a year's time with WrestleMania happening next year again in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
[01:00:26] So to go over the outside matches outside the Royal Rumble, the two matches, we got AJ Styles vs Gunther with the stipulation that if AJ Styles loses, AJ Styles will indeed retire.
[01:00:47] So this is what I, I had in mind after what we saw from Monday Night Raw. I actually think AJ Styles might win this match. And the reason being that I think that WWE wanted to tease that match of AJ Styles versus CM Punk for the World Championship and for the fact that now if AJ wins, he should have a clear shot at getting another championship opportunity, which then could lead to a triple threat at elimination Chamber or whatever the next big event is where it's AJ Styles threat, Finn Balor and CM Punk. Tell me how, how that is not a big money match.
[01:01:34] We haven't seen Styles and Balor one on one many, many times in the ring. And the fact that you're gonna add CM Punk and you're gonna add the World Heavyweight Championship to it. Just sounds like money. And if it's an elimination chamber in Chicago, that is going to be an amazing match.
[01:01:52] So the way that I have this is I have a very, very crazy outlook on how I would want the match to be booked because there is one person I would want to be involved in this match, and that is John Cena. And the reason why is that if you have John Cena come out and distract Gunther so that that way AJ Styles can get his win back after being cheated out the first time and he beats Gunther, it's not going to hurt Gunther because Gunther is already going to be part of the Royal Rumble match.
[01:02:29] So why are you going to be mad if AJ Styles wins, gets to continue his 2026 retirement year, and Gunther can just go on and probably win the Royal Rumble.
[01:02:45] So I have AJ winning that match.
[01:02:47] Oh, and by the way, let me just go ahead and say this. The build for the Royal Rumble has been the poorest I've ever seen in years.
[01:02:57] There is no build whatsoever.
[01:03:00] All the build is on WrestleMania in Las Vegas. That is it. That is all that they want you to know about. Because number one, they can't really talk about Royal Rumble because one, the freaking arena wasn't even built 10 days ago. It was halfway built.
[01:03:18] And then for the Royal Rumble, like, they're not really caring what's gonna happen in the Royal Rumble because they're making so much money off of WrestleMania that they really don't care about the build. And they have been promoting 2K26.
[01:03:41] And in a wild turn of events, Triple Paul Levesque.
[01:03:48] H is represented and it's on three of the deluxe covers.
[01:03:54] He is on the Monday Night wars, he's on the Attitude Era, and he's got his own version called the King of Kings.
[01:04:05] How more egotistical can you get three to I don't know if I've. I think they always try to do three deluxe for each game just to steal people's money, but it's almost the same game. They add more match types.
[01:04:23] But the fact that he's on three different covers and one of them is just him, it's just wild to me.
[01:04:35] We also got, as I mentioned, for the undisputed WWE Championship, Drew McIntyre and Sami Zayn.
[01:04:43] Now, I should mention that another match that didn't actually happen at Saturday night's main event was Cody Rhodes versus Jacob Fatu.
[01:04:52] And the reason why was because Jacob Fatu attacked Cody Rhodes before the match could start. And they had this 10 minute brawl in the arena in Montreal that ended with them going up the concourse and hitting each other with trash cans and other stuff.
[01:05:12] And then at the end, Drew McIntyre powerbomb Cody Rhodes through a table.
[01:05:20] And that was crazy.
[01:05:23] And then later in the night, as I said, the, the fatal four way match happened, which is really, really good.
[01:05:31] And Sammy won that. So Sammy gets the opportunity to face Drew McIntyre personally. Drew ends up winning this.
[01:05:38] Drew is already rumored that he's gonna walk into WrestleMania with the world Heavyweight Championship. Sorry, the undisputed championship. And I think that that would be the best for him because if he walks in and he does end up losing it, I don't see why that's a problem.
[01:06:00] Now we have to talk about the Royal Rumble matches.
[01:06:04] So for the women's Royal Rumble match, here is the field that we got.
[01:06:09] Becky Lynch, Asuka Bailey, EO Sky, Charlotte Flair, Jordan Grace, Alexa Bliss, Nia Jax, Chelsea Green, Rhea Ripley, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Julia Lyra Valkyria, Roxanne Perez, last legend and Maxine Dupree.
[01:06:26] So technically we got 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13. We got about like 13 people that still need to be involved. We gotta have some surprises in there.
[01:06:45] I could see one or two legends being in this one.
[01:06:49] I, as far as I know, there hasn't been talks of, you know, which NXT people are going to be in this.
[01:07:00] I could see Blake Monroe being in this. Blake Monroe would be a great, a great choice.
[01:07:08] I could see Ash by Elegance being in this. The former Dana Brooke, she just returned on tna. I could see that happening.
[01:07:22] I could definitely see a return of Bianca Belair. I think that if there is anybody who could win Office off of a surprise, it should be Bel Air. I would love to see Bianca Belair come back and we start her WrestleMania feud with Pretty. I think it's, it's got to be Jade Cargill.
[01:07:43] I think that's the whole thing is we're gonna get Bianca versus Jade Cargill for the, the women's championship at WrestleMania. And then depending on what happens with Naomi, maybe Naomi comes back the smackdown raw after WrestleMania, which would be really, really cool and a good pop and then her and Bianca can continue their feud.
[01:08:05] But I think a lot of people are pointing the finger and I am totally acceptable to it is Liv Morgan.
[01:08:11] They're saying that Liv Morgan should definitely win it. I would definitely love to see it because then you can see dissension in the judgment day. And Liv Morgan cuts all ties of the Judgment Day and wins the big one at WrestleMania. And that is her dream come true. And she turns baby face or something else happens.
[01:08:33] Because you know, I think Liv Morgan, especially for how she's been the last two years, she's grown a lot in wwe. She's one of their top stars.
[01:08:44] And you know, this in crate, this crazy, crazy, you know, realization of like her grind in this business and in the women's division, rising up from, you know, jobber and tag team wrestler to now basically being right up there with, with Ria and Iyo and Becky.
[01:09:10] It really just shows you the persistence in Liv Morgan's Persona in her career.
[01:09:17] So personally I have Liv Morgan winning the women's match. And finally we have the men's Royal Rumble match.

[01:09:30] Rey Mysterio, Brock Lesnar who was confirmed actually today as of this recording.

[01:10:16] So he's been gone for basically a whole two months. So he went on his two month leave.
[01:10:21] By the way, if you want to know is his 2025 gap that he had was uh, tribal computer.
[01:10:31] Excuse me, Tribal combat with Solo Sokoa on the debut episode The Royal Rumble WrestleMania Night 1 Saturday Main Event Night 1 SummerSlam Tag Team match against Breaker and Reed.
[01:10:53] Uh, Clash in Paris against Bronson Reed.
[01:11:01] Crown Jewel Australian Street Fight lost against Bronson Reed. And then finally War Games Survivor Series in November with Brock Drew and the Vision.
[01:11:18] So, so yeah, incredible I how everything has gone with man, his last, his last couple of matches, but it has been strictly pay per view. Pay per view, Pay per view. He's only had one. He's had one televised match, you know, in the, the last, in the last.
[01:11:43] Almost, almost, you know, three years.
[01:11:48] He. The last two televised matches was Monday Night Raw on January 6th of last year. And then the one previous was December 30th, 2022.
[01:12:07] John Cena, Kevin Owens beat the bloodline of Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn. Everything else is just pay per view. And then he does a couple of house shows, you know, on the way there, which Is just.
[01:12:23] Oh, it is nuts. It is so, so freaking nuts, man.
[01:12:29] It is insane.
[01:12:31] You know, before, man, I. I'd love to look at his, you know, his televised matches, you know, absolutely nuts. You know, when you, when you go to his, his match statistics and you look at, you know, broadcast, you know, you look at broadcasted ship, you look at, you know, TV shows, for TV shows. Uh, get this, uh, he had three matches, uh, 2022, uh, 10 in, uh, 2021 and 10 and 2020.
[01:13:18] So like on TV, he has strictly only done, you know, various, you know, television jobs. So that's crazy.
[01:13:33] But then, you know, going back, one of the things that I have of, you know, who could possibly win this, a lot of people are saying Roman Reigns should win this. I think Braun Breaker probably could end up winning this, but I don't think it would hit well.
[01:13:51] I would just say I would not mind if Gunther does end up winning this and challenges CM Punk for a rematch at WrestleMania.
[01:14:06] But what would be great is if Sami Zayn wins the undisputed WWE Championship off of Drew McIntyre.
[01:14:20] And then what ends up happening is now that opens up the possibility for a heel to end up winning the match.
[01:14:36] And that could end up being, you know, Braun Breaker, it could end up being Gunther. But now they're facing Sami Zayn. And my whole thing is the one thing I want is I want Cody Rhodes to be the runner up because then that launches him to want to win the elimination chamber in Chicago and then go on and challenge CM Punk for the World heavyweight championship at WrestleMania because he's already completed his. His story there. He now needs to complete his story with the other title belts, the other world Championship, and he needs to complete it with CM Punk. Because the last two years, him and Punk have had the most interaction when it comes to. To him and the titles. And, you know, whether or not he's going to be successful and whether or not we're ready to see this massive heel turn happen with Cody Rhodes. And that is what my hope is. I hope that because of him being the runner up, I want him to end up losing the Royal Rumble, going insane. We already saw with Jacob Fatu and him absolutely turning heel finally, and for us to be rooting for him to beat CM Punk and be a heel world champion heading into 2026.
[01:16:01] Some surprises I definitely have. Chris Jericho probably be a part of it. Powerhouse Hobbes definitely would be a part of it. A lot of people are rumoring that Edge could come back and be a part of it. That would be insane if that was the case.
