[00:00:06] The Rocking Review Podcast Hosted by J. Rock Rude.
[00:00:30] Welcome everyone to another exciting edition of the Rockin Review Podcast. Hello, I am your host J. Rock Rude and today is episode 23 of the Rocking Review.
[00:00:48] We got a lot of stuff to talk about today. We are in the mists of both AEW Wrestle Dream and I will give my quick little debriefing on that towards the end of the show. We are also talking about AEW ratings because they hit an all time low this past week for Dynamite.
[00:01:17] We also will be talking about the weird vignettes that have been making the rounds so far when it comes to their online Twitter videos.
[00:01:30] A return, a re debut, something along the lines of that we'll get into multiple reports, one from fifo, one from Sports Illustrated. We also will talk about Smackdown from last week, mostly just setting up for for this Saturday night's main event in Salt Lake City, Utah, which we already will have three title matches on that card. So quite literally it feels like it's the biggest Saturday night's main event that they have done in a very long time. Quite literally, probably the very first one that they ever did almost a year ago. We'll go into the that as well as other stuff here on the podcast real quickly. Just a quick reminder that if you have not already, go and follow the Rocking review on both Instagram and X that's r a w k ing review.
[00:02:32] I try to post there mostly all the time. I try to post when we are about to do an episode, when we're not going to do an episode. Some teasers, some previews, and ultimately the goal is to almost make this a talk show, maybe a TV show, and hopefully do something in the near future.
[00:02:52] Let's first talk about these cryptic messages. So they started happening around Sunday morning.
[00:03:03] So these vignettes basically have been posted everywhere after a few certain hours of various men walking and they're only about 15 seconds long and all you can see is the feet. And they've posted a total of four so far. They posted another one this morning as of I believe 4am in the morning.
[00:03:33] Fans have speculated several possible wrestlers who this could possibly be showcased in the clip, but as far as anybody specifically nobody really knew. But there was a later article that was posted by Sports Illustrated that's coming from John Alba and in his article he says that WWE sparked heavy speculation across the Internet this weekend with multiple vignettes showing mysterious men walking. Now it appears that there could be some clarity as to who they are featuring and what exactly they are for the company posted four cryptic teasers over the last several days featuring unidentified people walking I it says stoically.
[00:04:25] Took me a minute to process that. Speculation has ran wild on who it could be for with rumors going a returning Santos Escobar. If you remember, there was a debacle that happened a week when we were not covering Dynamite and basically there was some type of interesting process where Santos basically got let go of his current contract and then he, he looked like he was going to make the move, but he immediately got resigned by wwe.
[00:05:03] So people are saying it could be him, it could be Gunther. We haven't seen Gunther since SummerSlam. And if you remember my last episode we talked about the rumor being that John Cena's last match could be against Gunther at Saturday night's main event in Washington D.C.
[00:05:20] the two biggest ones out of all of them that's being rumored so far is that it could in fact be either Brock Lesnar, because in one of the promos we saw a man in jeans walking around and there's only one cowboy who's wearing some jeans down to the ring and that is the Beast incarnate. But the other one, and this is the main one people are talking about, it could be Chris Jericho.
[00:05:52] Now of course I don't know whether or not people have gotten wind of this, but Chris Jericho basically has given some insight and from what wide speculation has assumed, he probably will be going to WWE here in the near future. Again.
[00:06:11] He is the inaugural AW World Champion. He also won the Ring of Honor World Champion and the FTW Championship in his tenure in all elite wrestling. The fact that Tony Khan and the rest of AEW is going to let Chris Jericho walk and he's gonna go back to the place that really started his big fame. Of course WCW and ECW was the first ones, but really WWE 2000-2002 was like main Chris Jericho. And then his period in the company from 2008 to 2010 was some of his best years of work.
[00:06:52] And then he basically was just a bench player for the remaining years of his contract. Then he started of course the Lifelong duo and the memorable duo of him and Kevin Owens, which led to the Festival of Friendship, which then ended up being the WrestleMania match with which eventually made him walk out on the company. And then he started stuff in New Japan with Omega and everybody else. And then he was one of the biggest date wonders for AEW and Tony Khan. So unfortunately for some fans, it may not be leading too much at all. As PW insiders Mike Johnson revealed on the elite Monday for Russell votes and that the teases are likely related to a WrestleMania 42 promotional material and not a returning wrestler.
[00:07:48] Now of course they said that this was at 11:25 Monday morning. That is a WrestleMania 42 promo and it is expected to be revealed in full sometime later today.
[00:08:05] Johnson noted in his reports that Brock Lesnar, Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns were all recently at WWE headquarters in Stanford, Connecticut and filmed material while at offices. It is believed that there are they are the featured men in the vignettes with all signs pointing to a WrestleMania 42 promotional campaign before or being the end game. I'm sorry.
[00:08:31] WWE will attempt to build as much goodwill as possible ahead of WrestleMania 42 as its WrestleMania announcements have been the source of controversy as of late. Las Vegas hosted WrestleMania 41 in Allegiant Stadium last year, seeing John Cena defeat Cody Rhodes in the main event to win his WWWE record setting 17th world title. It was initially announced that New Orleans would be the host of WrestleMania 42 at the Caesar Superdome, but the event was instead moved back to Las Vegas. New Orleans will now host Money in the bank, slated for next September at the adjacent smoothie King Center.
[00:09:15] WrestleMania 43, however, will be the first international WrestleMania. The company revealed earlier this summer that the show of shows would be heading to Saudi Arabia and has actively encouraged fans to in the United States to make the trip for the event in 2027. There is no listed date for WrestleMania 43 as well.
[00:09:38] So here's the biggest thing from this right? If this is the promotional material, then man, they are really trying to sell the most that they can. With WrestleMania being that it is pretty much only like what, four months out, five months out, it is very crucial that if they are able to do what they did last year and with the quoted amount of or the reported amount of money that they made and the reported amount of money that Las Vegas threw at them to basically change schedule and change what they had already committed to New Orleans and that committee that basically said that hey WrestleMania is coming to New Orleans next year, now they're gonna have money in the bank and this was reported last week that they're gonna have it in September of all times. So you mean to tell me that you go from one moving WrestleMania out of the city that you were supposed to have it in, then you give them money in the bank, which it's not quite literally like a SummerSlam or a Survivor Series as they is already, as they have already made commitments that next year SummerSlam 2026 will be at the US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. But you mean to tell me that now you're going to have Money in the bank after SummerSlam and in September? So that way, that four month stretch up into WrestleMania and Saudi Arabia, that basically you're going to just have speculation on, oh, is Mr. Money in the bank going to cash in? Like, I do not understand why. What's the point of that if you're going to extend it even further for no reason at all? Because this makes it even worse. Because somebody could hold the Money bank contract basically all the way past WrestleMania. They could hold it past SummerSlam, they can hold it past any of the spring events and they would just have to cash it in before like Survivor Series. So like creates speculation on when that person will end up cashing in their money in the big briefcase. But I mean having in September, it's like what else are you going to fill out that time with is what I'm saying.
[00:11:59] Moving on, we got to talk about smackdown from last week.
[00:12:07] The Smackdown beforehand, it fell a.
[00:12:13] What's the best word to. To really go deep into this. It felt like a very anti climactic SummerSlam. It started off with reports that Jacob Fatu was suffering an injury and had to go away for some time. He was originally slated to be a part of a number one contendership match at I believe this upcoming Saturday night's main event and he was going to face Drew McIntyre and then the winner would go on to face Cody at Survivor Series.
[00:12:43] So now Jacob got out. They were going to have the number one contenders match that night. Knowing that Jacob was injured, Jacob later in the night had a trust piece on him, tossed on him. We did not know who attacked him and he was bleeding from the mouth.
[00:13:06] And basically the main event was in an impromptu quote unquote title match which saw Cody Rhodes win by disqualification because he took the title and hit Drew McIntyre with it.
[00:13:21] So also on that episode, Ilya Dragunov finally had came back after almost a year out from the ring and in his first match back, he beat Sami Zayn to become the new United States Champion and he will now be continuing the open challenge lineage that Sammy had first gotten permission from John Cena to use. So he's going to continue that quote unquote legacy that he basically wants to project.
[00:13:56] So smackdown open up. With Cody addressing the crowd and explaining that using his championship belt as a weapon last week was an emotional reaction for his rage and his upsetness in what Drew McIntyre has basically put him through. What he said over the last couple of months to Cody. And then Drew interrupted and he accused fans of enabling Cody's actions and insisting that he would, quote, finish his story. A Saturday night's main event. He also denied that he attacked Jacob Fatu, which then led to Jimmy USO after Drew had blamed and said that Jimmy was the one who attacked Jacob and Jimmy came out and attacked Drew, which then led Nick Aldis to book Jimmy vs Drew in a no DQ match for the main event.
[00:14:51] We then got the MFTS against Rey Phoenix and Shinsuke Nakamura. Now a couple of weeks ago for the smackdown crown jewel mfts, Tama Tonga, uh, had came back from injury. He had been injured since Survivor Series.
[00:15:16] Uh, actually, no, that was, that was. That was a lie. He was not injured since Survivor Series.
[00:15:25] He was injured, I think, pretty much during the summer.
[00:15:33] So a lot of the solo seoa bloodline stuff got super confused. And because of that, they brought in JC Mateo and Jeff Cobb and they brought in Talatanga Hikaleo. So it was quite interesting.
[00:15:48] So this was Tamatonga and JC Mateo and Tamatonga and Shinsuke opened up with a short strike exchange before tagging out to Mateo and Phoenix, allowing the baby face side to control the early offense until the commercial break during picture in picture, the mfts isolated Phoenix and slowed down the pace before Nakamura's hot tagged reunited the match with a flurry of kicks. After Solar Skull extracted the ref Tomatonga clothesline Phoenix on the apron and then hit a running elbow, basically almost like a, a hidden blade like move to get the win. MFT came away looking dominant. And I will say this about, uh, MFT and the new face paint, uh, Gorillas of Warfare, you know, gimmick that they're. They're running right now. It's actually pretty good.
[00:16:48] I like this new side of this bloodline that Solo Sokoa is basically gonna manage and what that could mean for the tag division.
[00:16:58] You know, I, I think all of. All of them look very, very strong.
[00:17:03] You know, the Tongans, Mateo Talatonga, they all look very, very good. But you can know that, you know, Tomatonga, he was the first one that got brought up, you know, from this mass extension of bringing in new people from the bloodline that were overseas or, you know, in Japan or, you know, guys like Jacob Fatu and everybody else like that. Like, that's, you know, he was one of the first ones that really kicked off. A lot of stuff going on.
[00:17:35] Sorry, I've not had much to eat or drink or anything.
[00:17:39] So then we Got to Tiffany Stratton versus Kayana James. This was non title.
[00:17:48] Tiffy controlled the early stages of the match using arm drags and wrist locks. Well, Julia coached James from ringside, but James countered after a distraction, allowing her to drive Stratton into the barricade during the break.
[00:18:03] Stratton regained the advantage after the break and one decisively with Swanton followed by the PME before Julia attacked Stratton after the match. And then Jade Cargill comes back after she had been missing the last couple weeks. She had been part of that triple threat with Nia, Jax and Stratton a couple weeks beforehand where she got her eyebrow busted open crazy style. And. And there was that really bad botched finish by both Stratton and Jax and the ref.
[00:18:38] But after the heels left the ring, it looked like Jade was coming to console her friend. But it's a swerve because Jade Cargill immediately hits a big clothesline and drives Stratton into the barricade, into the steps to the table and.
[00:19:00] And she just assaults Tiffany and basically Tiffany is taking out by medical officials.
[00:19:09] This is the type of Jade Cargill that we have been waiting for for quite literally over a year.
[00:19:15] Yes. Is she okay as a baby face? Is she okay as a fan favorite? But look at what the last year of her career, career in WWE has done for her. She is part of the storyline where Naomi pushed her off of a truck through car windshield that took her off the shelf for about a couple months before it was revealed that Naomi was the main person who basically tried to get rid of Jade Cargill because she was the fan favorite and her friend Bianca was super conflicted and was whatnot and, you know, they were super frustrated. And this led to Naomi's heel turn and this led to Naomi and Bianca having their feud and of course Naomi and Jade having their couple matches. And then finally Naomi won the title at Evolution 2 this past year. And then she had to vacate it because, well, she's pregnant and she got to go take care of the little. Ooh. So now Jade is heel.
[00:20:22] And Jade probably at this point will continue to be built up now that she is a heel, and hopefully this will turn her into the champion that she needs to be because they've had that match on replay for so many times that more than I can count of Jade and Tiffany. And you don't really know who to root for because they're both baby faces. So now you finally did turn Jade as a heel. Now people can actually try to either root for Tiffany or they can root for Jade. I'm rooting for Jade.
[00:20:58] Then we had the US Open challenge that was given out by Ilya Dragon off.
[00:21:09] I am super happy that Ilya Dragunov is back. I, I didn't expect that he was going to win the US title in his first match back in a little over a year, but it was still very, very good that he was able to get a strong push.
[00:21:27] Being off from so long and you can tell he's bulked up, he's lean, he's got the neck tattoo and he's as dominant as he ever was. And now that he's going to probably hopefully be on the main roster a little bit longer this time, I am just super excited to see what they end up doing.
[00:21:46] So basically his new catchphrase is pain will entertain you and he wants to invite all comers to come and try to face him.
[00:21:59] The first challenger was the newly repackaged Alistair Black with shoot girlfriend, shoot wife Selena Vega. And man, when they came out and this was told basically by everybody, oh, they wish that Karrion Kross and Scarlett would have gotten this type of push because, man, Black and Vega look awesome together. And the entrance and the fact that Black is just so good in the ring and he's good on promos and so is Alina when, you know, you actually give her some time. Like, it's perfect.
[00:22:39] So they came in here, it was a very, very hard hitting match.
[00:22:46] Immediate strike exchanges Vega assisted interference, Hurricane Rana classic Selena Vega tactics.
[00:22:57] Then she was ejected after some time.
[00:23:01] Damien Priest then came down and he had the scar from the fireball that Black had given him in their last man standing match a couple of weeks ago in Australia.
[00:23:13] And that distracted Black long enough for Dragon off the land. Torpedo Moscow for the win.
[00:23:21] So still looking like we're gonna build Damian Priest and Alistair Black.
[00:23:27] That's pretty good. I like seeing that. And Dragunov wins his first defense of the US title again.
[00:23:35] Fact he's got a main roster title already in the books is absolutely awesome. I absolutely love everything that they are putting out right now and I am super glad for Ilia. We then got to our main event with Drew McIntyre and Jimmy Uso. Uso jumped McIntyre in the aisle to start the fight before it spilled into the crowd and transitioned back towards the ring. McIntyre took control after the commercial break until USO launched a counter attack to send him out of the ring and briefly used the help of a Planet fan before taking a belly to belly superplex on the floor. The match ended when Drew McIntyre threw a steel chair into Jimmy's face and immediately followed it up with a clip claymore for the pin. After the match, Drew began attacking Jimmy with the chair, driving it right into his neck before Cody ended up coming out. And then after a little bit of a run around the ring and Jimmy trying to be assisted by Cody, Drew immediately hit Cody with the claymore and that was what sent us ending the show again for the fact of how the plans right now for Survivor Series are going, the amount of changes that they have had to with go or they've had to undergo, you know, with these storylines, especially with Cody, man, it's feeling exactly like how Cody's title run was beforehand. And honestly they just need to give it to somebody. Could that be Drew McIntyre or could that be somebody else, maybe even a legend killer? Let me explain.
[00:25:24] So we know probably it wasn't Drew that attacked Jacob Futsu, but we haven't seen Randy on TV in quite literally over a month. And the last time they were in the ring it was before Crown Jewel and they were tagging the against division Cody and Randy.
[00:25:44] Could you imagine if at the end of all of this we end up finally getting a Randy heel turn and either Randy calls Cody the title or it seems like Randy's coming to save Cody from a beatdown and then immediately punt kicks him, which then leads to quite literally the exact same thing that happened last year with Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes.
[00:26:13] Just a little suggestion.
[00:26:20] Another big thing that happened over the weekend was NXT Halloween havoc. It took place in Prescott Valley, Arizona at the Finley Toronto center or not Toronto Toyota Center. My apologies.
[00:26:42] So this was a halfway decent ple for nxt.
[00:26:49] I mean I there would say it's probably one of, if not their best ple I think they've had all year.
[00:27:00] Yeah, sure there was a couple of good ones, but like through every single match, I mean they did very, very well.
[00:27:10] I'll just say that it started off with Javon Evans and Leon Slater, the X Division champion. They beat Laporca and Mr. Iguana in 17 minutes.
[00:27:25] Then we had the Day of the Dead match for the NXT North American title.
[00:27:32] Ethan Page beat El Hio D Dr.
[00:27:36] Wagner Jr. Who currently Dr. Wagner, for those who who do not know, he is the current Triple AI Latin American champion.
[00:27:52] So this match was pretty good. I actually saw Ethan Page almost tear half of El Hio's or I should say Dr. Wagner's, Dr. Wagner's mask off basically.
[00:28:09] So that was a really cool visual, especially with all the dark lighting and the face paints and whatnot, and it was pretty good.
[00:28:18] So our first title change came from the NXT North American title match.
[00:28:27] Blake Monroe, the former Mariah May, already within her first three months in wwe, finally has her first singles championship. She beat Zarya.
[00:28:41] So the story with that is that Soul Ruka actually had to be taken out because of an injury.
[00:28:52] Again, for what? Nobody knows. And there's actually been no report on it as far as I know.
[00:29:01] And there was a spot in the match where Zaria or Zarya was thrown into the steps and it looked like she like dislocated her shoulder.
[00:29:12] And in very, very, I don't know, like Rhea Ripley fashion, if you remember Rhea Ripley.
[00:29:24] Basically, Soul Ruka drove Zarya's shoulder into the post, and that was pretty crazy. And it almost looked like the rumored heel turn that we were gonna get for so Ruka. But in the end, Blake Monroe did beat Zarya and she is the new women's North American champion.
[00:29:47] Then we. We had back to back to back title changes. Then for the NXT women's title match, Tatum Paxley beat JC Jane in 16 minutes for the women's title.
[00:30:04] The spot came when Izzy Dame looked like she was going to attack Paxley with, but instead Paxley ducked and J.C. jane took Dame out of the ring, which then led to Paxley hitting her finishing move and beating JC Jane to win the women's champion.
[00:30:30] So very good on Tatum Paxley again.
[00:30:35] Still a very. Okay, never mind. I was gonna say very young star. She's 29, but, like, look at, like, how long she's been in the wwe and she's been there for pretty much her entire career. And like, actually finally working off these last three years and getting something out of it, it's pretty really good. And now they finally can get rid of just that horrible fatal influence. I'm sorry, but like, the whole fatal influence with Lainey Reed and Fallon Henley and J.C. jane. I mean, like, I mean, I like J.C. jane, but dude, I. I think she'd be so much better if it was like an AEW or even a tna, because, like, I. I mean, I don't know, you know, it's just not clicking. I mean, she's very talented. Don't get me wrong. She has the charisma, but I don't see nothing much in it.
[00:31:30] Then in a broken rules match, dark state of Dion Lennox and Oris O Iris or O's Osiris Griffin. Again, this just shows you how much I pay attention to the. The product of NXT because it's just NXT and NXT has been kind of feeling off but they beat the Hardy Boys and they won back the NXT tag team titles again. The rumor is that the TNA contracts for the Hardy Boys will be up by the end of 2025. So there is a very good chance that I believe after this year, personally I, I think that they end up retiring. I, I think that they retire at WrestleMania to, to a team, whoever that they want, maybe in WWE and they retire and it would be a really good feel good story for both Matt and Jeff to finally go out and do what they got to do.
[00:32:42] By the way, that was the longest match of the night that was over almost 20 minutes.
[00:32:49] The finish came when Dark State took their finishing move to Matt Hardy after Brother Nero because it was the broken Hardee's. So Brother Nero, Jeff Hardy, he tried to do a Swanton to Griffin through two tables on the outside and completely wiped out and then was immediately driven through the barricade on the outside.
[00:33:17] So good. Props to Jeff Hardy at 48 years of age for being able to take that bump for the youngins.
[00:33:30] And Dark State is once again the tag team champions. And then in the main event, Ricky Saints beat trick Williams 16 minutes 48 seconds.
[00:33:42] Finish came after a spear and then a tornado DDT for the win.
[00:33:49] I'll be fully honest with you.
[00:33:51] Trick Williams needs to go to the main roster. Trick Williams is ready to go hit the main roster and whether you immediately put him in a program with Carmelo Hayes who recently just turned Babyface, that's an option. But you know that it, you know they'll probably have him be at the Rumble in Saudi in January.
[00:34:18] But, but yeah he, he's ready to go to the main roster. There's nothing much you can do with him on nxt.
[00:34:24] You, you can't give him chasing the North American title when Ethan Page has it and there's no other single championship that you can really give him.
[00:34:33] There will however, in the upper coming future there will be a NXT special which will be NXT Gold Rush.
[00:34:52] This will be quite literally the first quadruple sponsored uh, branded show.
[00:35:03] This will be a two night event.
[00:35:07] The first one will be on November 18th.
[00:35:16] The second one will be on November 25th. So it will be Thanksgiving weekend. It will take place at the theater at Madison Square Garden and it will represent nxt, tna, AAA and Evolve Wrestling.
[00:35:37] So that'll be fun. But that will be the 18th and 25th of of November. So that will Be there in November and then their next ple for NXT will be NXT deadline on December 6th in San Antonio, Texas at the Boeing center at Tech Point.
[00:36:05] So that was Halloween havoc.
[00:36:09] Now let's go into the previews for this Monday night raw card. This will be taking place in Anaheim, California at the Honda Center. We got Nikki Bella versus Roxanne Perez. We got number one contendership match with Rusev and Penta for the Intercontinental Championship.
[00:36:31] Then we have a tag team championship match. Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair will take on Bailey and Lyra Valkyria. Again. Bailey has been taking this kind of two faced type of gimmick where whenever she gets super raged out she goes into this type of zone and stable to attack and they're able to win some matches, her and Lyra. So a chance that Lyra could end up winning the tag titles. That could be pretty good.
[00:37:05] That could be pretty cool. Sorry.
[00:37:08] Last week, last week AJ Styles and Dragon Lee beat the Judgment Day to become the new tag team champions on Raw.
[00:37:19] They have been subsequently named AJ Lee of all things. So that's kind of funny. And then moving on to nxt, a nice little loaded card here.
[00:37:34] Following the pay per view we got a WB Speed title number one contendership, final match with Axiom Jasper Troy. We got Miles Bourne versus Tavion Heights for the WWE Evolve women's title. We got Kendall Gray in Lash Legend. And then surprisingly we got Jordan Grace looking to become, yes, a eight or seven time knockouts champion as she will take on the reigning champion Kalani Jordan for this week on an X.
[00:38:14] And then of course is the main one is Saturday night's main event taking place at the Delta center in Salt Lake City, Utah. This will be on only Peacock.
[00:38:28] So this is kind of weird because they signed the ple deal with espn, but any type of network specials they will only run through Peacock. I believe they have stopped running through through NBC. I think that this is a smart move because if they continue to run through Peacock, no commercials and I feel like it will be a far more enjoyable show.
[00:38:54] We got Tiffany Stratton taking on Jade Cargill for the women's title. I think that if they don't give it to her now, I think Jay's momentum will immediately slip off.
[00:39:10] So I got Jade winning the title, finally bringing Tiffy's title reign to an end.
[00:39:17] I then have Cody Rhodes vs Drew McIntyre for the undisputed WWE Championship.
[00:39:30] Again.
[00:39:31] I have a good feeling that Cody Rhodes probably will take this and then maybe lose at Survivor Series. And again we could see an interference by Randy Orton that could lead to an Orton heel turn. And then maybe we end up having Cody Rhods and Randy in San Diego at Survivor Series for the undisputed title. And then in our main event, again, we did not talk about this, but this was brought up last week on Monday Night Raw because of the injury that was unfortunately to Seth Rollins.
[00:40:15] Adam Pierce came out at the start of last week's show and basically said that the world title has been stripped from Seth Rollins and a new champion will be crowned at Saturday night's main event.
[00:40:31] And already the week before, CM Punk had be had become the number one contender in a number one contendership match against LA Knight and Jay uso, which Oso took the pin key thing there.
[00:40:49] So then Pierce said that there was going to be a battle royal at the main event that was going to determine who Punk was going to challenge for the vacant title.
[00:41:01] And during the night, Pierce had gotten upset over Breaker's actions and defiance and Bronson Reed's defiance. So what ended up happening was Pierce took Reed and Breaker out of the battle Royal and the battle royal was eventually won by Jay uso, who won after eliminating both LA Knight and his own brother who had saved him twice, Jimmy uso, and he had then last eliminated Dominic Mysterio, who was hiding amongst all of the participants but eventually got eliminated by Jay. So it will be CM Punk vs Jay USO for the vacant title.
[00:41:47] They're definitely going to give CM Punk the title and if they don't give CM Punk the title, then they are dead wrong. The statistics on J USO and the amount of dislikes he is getting on social media, post on YouTube and everywhere else, it shows you that I think the Yeet experiment is done and what they're doing right now to try to make him a heel, I completely understand what they're doing it for and I understand that it's actually going to be really, really good when they end up doing it. But I mean, there's a time and a place for everything.
[00:42:22] And that's what you got to consider when you're talking about all these scenarios. And a scenario that I pitched is that if because it's been rumored that J uso is going to turn, we have kind of what happened with the Daniel Bryan in 2018 when he faced AJ Styles going up to the build of Survivor Series where Daniel Bryan behind the ref's back just kicked the low blow to Styles and basically ended up winning the WB Championship.
[00:43:01] Jay can do the same thing here, low Blows punk super kick. Uso splash spear. 1, 2, 3. And Jay Uso is a two time world heavyweight Champion and he's also a heel now. So then you have Roman come back and then maybe you end up having that where it's like Jay USO is now the big man and it's like, well, do you really expect that they're gonna have Roman take the title off of his cousin?
[00:43:29] I mean, I have no idea, but those are some things that I'm just throwing around. But so far those are the only matches that have been announced. There probably will be about one more that will be announced within tonight's Raw and Friday Night smackdown this Friday.
[00:43:45] Now the end of the show, we're going to be Talking about some AEW now on the October 22nd edition of Dynamite that took place actually in San Antonio and at the same place where they're gonna have NXT deadline in December.
[00:44:03] It was a pretty okay show.
[00:44:07] Attendance was 18:30.
[00:44:12] The Ops beat the Hearst Syndicate in 12 minutes in a defense of the AW World Trios title.
[00:44:21] Four way tag team match Jamie Hayter and Queen Aminata beat the top gods Bane and Ford, Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale and Sisters of Sin, Julia Hart and Sky Blue in under 10 minutes.
[00:44:36] Kyle O'Reilly beat John Moxley by DQ in 12 minutes as well.
[00:44:42] Six man tag team trios match Conglomeration Brisco, Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong. They beat Claudio Casanoli, Daniel Garcia and Wheeler Yuta. And then the main event for the Continental Championship, Kazuchika Okada beat Bandido in 16 minutes. With the show going off air showing some type of tension between the Don Cattle family and the reigning and defending IWGP Heavyweight Champion Konosuke Takeshna and the rainmaker Kazuchi Okada. Again, I try but dude, it's. Oh, it's. It's something man. It's something.
[00:45:34] So because of that from Russell nomics and the PW torch, the show averaged 477,000 viewers for its two hour run of TBS, a drop from the 53,500, 534 sorry thousand from the previous week. In the key 1849 demographic, the show posted a 0.08 compared to its 0.11 rating a week before.
[00:46:17] This became the newest lowest rated show in the six year span of Dynamite.
[00:46:30] A year ago at this time the show drew 637,000 viewers and a 19 rating. In the 1849 demo two years ago it drew a 0.24 and had almost three quarters of a million viewers so 774,000.
[00:46:57] The article notes that the new Nelson Big Data Plus Panel methodology has contributed to comparisons being difficult. And streaming numbers via MAX are not publicly released, therefore are not included in the TBS figure.
[00:47:16] So in the full scale thing, Average estimate tickets 2023 was 4.5 thousand. 2024, massive drop 31,000, 30, 30.1 thousand. Then this year it's gone down to 2.67 thousand.
[00:47:41] This week it was ranked number five. And again the simulcast began in 2025.
[00:47:48] For the quarter three, it was number one. 2023.
[00:47:55] This week's episode compared to last week, down 11%.
[00:48:01] This episode trailing four weeks, the down 13%.
[00:48:07] Quarter four average compared to last year, down 19%.
[00:48:16] October viewership down 24% from last year. They just keep dropping like flies.
[00:48:29] And in the ratings comparisons, last week took a 27% drop in the ratings compared to last year which did a 0.19, a 53% drop.
[00:48:52] The average, a 55% drop of last year in October, which was a 0.2.
[00:49:04] This whole thing is just completely dropping like flies. And you're sitting there and you're asking why on earth are they feeling.
[00:49:18] Everything is just, it's going so incredibly bad for some reason.
[00:49:27] I, I mean, I, I don't know what to do.
[00:49:29] It said that this was actually a.08, but on some occasions I said it's a.
[00:49:39] A.09.
[00:49:46] I, I don't know what to do.
[00:49:49] I, I mean, I tried, I try to look at the positives, aew, I really do.
[00:49:55] But when you're having, right now, it's the biggest thing going on is that Warner Brothers Discovery is looking to try and figure out some type of acquiring technicalities where, where someone is going to acquire them. There's been reports that Paramount could end up requiring them. There's reports that the move for, you know, I mean, several people could end up acquiring Warner Brothers Discovery. And if that happens, what ends up happening with Tony Khan?
[00:50:31] And again, like, you know, they can sign the deal. They have a deal that's through 2027.
[00:50:37] But man, when your ratings are this low and when you got less than half a million people watching your product every single week and you're running shows which barely hold over 2000 people.
[00:50:51] I, I mean, yeah. Is it family friendly? Yeah, it's family friendly. When your main event storyline involves basically trying to drown a person in a fish tank and the whole story is basically like, oh, he's team aew. Oh, he carries the AEW flag on his, you know, in his backpack or in his bag and his jacket, whatever. I'm like okay, he's team aew. You want to know why he's Team aw? Because they gave him money that he never had before.
[00:51:22] You have to understand Darby Allen will never be a top superstar. They gave him a contract that would guarantee him millions and millions of dollars to do whatever he want, include climbing Mount Everest and he was able to do it no questions asked.
[00:51:45] That's just my thoughts.
[00:51:47] But that was episode 23. I want to thank you guys so much for listening. If you like what you are hearing we haven't really done anything on YouTube.
[00:51:59] I have mostly tried to strictly have that for WNYO purposes and other podcasts instead of myself.
[00:52:09] So with that said thank you so much for listening. Be sure to follow on both Instagram and X and as always it's spelled or a wk because we talk about the W's in pro wrestling.
[00:52:24] Thank you everybody.
