[00:01:49] During this episode we will be talking about the Rey Fenix situation that escalated this past weekend as Rey Fenix sent some ominous statements online regarding his time in aew. Again, he is still contracted by aew, but there is a lot of rumors going around about not only his mistreatment there not being put on programming, but also, most likely some management issues that ended up happening and basically in his own words, some inhumane treatment that he received there. We will also be going over the three main shows of Raw, Smackdown and AEW and the storylines that happened with those shows. And we will also be talking about this upcoming Saturday's Saturday night's main event that will be on NBC and that will be hosted live from the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York. And we will give our predictions on some of the matches that will be taking place this Saturday and who do we think will walk out as the WWE Champion?
[00:03:01] So first off, we will go over the Rey Fenix issue. For many wrestling fans that have heard this over the past week, they know that Rey Fenix and Pete Elzeramuro are the Lucha Brothers. They're actual brothers and of course they are former AEW World Tag Team Champions. They created the Death Triangle with Pac and they are the former AEW Trios Champions. So a lot of people were speculating on why Rey Fenix was basically told that he had injury time. Taekwondo is already AEW contract and instead of having him and his brother both go and move on and hopefully tag in other places that would be quite more successful. Why in the world was it just Ray Phoenix? Well, we have this report from the Wrestling Observer Radio and this is from December 9th and we will go into the update since then and from this past weekend. So it comes off with, well, his brother being Rey Fenix.
[00:04:08] His brother Penta Azeromuro has been removed from the AEW roster page. He is expected to join WWE shortly. Phoenix will not be contractually free to sign with the company until midway through 2025 due to having an injury time tacked on to his AEW contract. In September, Dave Meltzer reported that Phoenix's AEW deal won't expire for nearly, but not quite one year. Phoenix has not performed for AEW since July. On Saturday, Phoenix responded to a fan on social media who complained that he was not being used on AEW programming, writing that no one stays in a place where they have received inhumane treatment. I will have my chance to speak the truth. Penta later on that same day made a surprise appearance at AAA's TV taping so triple A for people who do not know, is a pro wrestling company that is majorly famous in Mexico.
[00:05:04] Early Monday morning, Phoenix again began making ominous statements online alluding to mistreatment by AEW management. I needed a doctor and you ignored me for months, phoenix wrote. So let's stop right there. So now Phoenix, after saying that he received inhumane treatment, is saying that apparently he needed a doctor for whatever type of injury that he ended up having and he is not exactly pointing the finger at aew. There is a chance that maybe this is from a different company or this is from somewhere else. But a lot of speculations point toward AEW because why else would Phoenix be saying this if he was not trying to one get out of his contract and to be able to go with his brother and be a tag team over most likely in wwe.
[00:05:58] He then responded to a update on his situation reported by Chris Featherstone of the Pancakes and Power Slams podcast. I do believe he's also a reporter for SportsKeep Media, which covers pro wrestling.
[00:06:14] Referring to Featherstone's report as so far the most accurate comment, Featherstone wrote, I received more information from an aew source on November 20 regarding the Lucha Brothers status, but did not report it as I was waiting for one of them to begin speaking their mind about the situation.
[00:06:35] I was told that the day that Penta's contract was soon ending with aew, Rey Fenix did just that when he spoke his mind. So here's some intel that I received the alleged excuse that Tony Khan found out about Lucha Brothers being in talks with WWE is fake news and the real reason will be revealed. There is a real story behind the situation with Rey Fenix and it is described as a huge injustice.
[00:07:07] Expect that when the Lucha Brothers go more in depth about their time in aew, when they are free and clear to do so, it will be ugly.
[00:07:16] In response to Featherstone's post, Phoenix would also add, unfortunately due to contractual issues, I cannot speak now, but I will have my time. Phoenix's next advertised show is a meet and greet for House of glory show on December 20, 2024. So real quick there, that last line, it's very interesting. December 20, 2024, is that not when it's the weekend that AEW is about to have the Hammerstein Ballroom for three whole days? Because they are recording and they are doing Ring of Honor, they are doing Collision and then they're doing a tapering of dynamite. So there is a lot of issues here. And more importantly, it just shows you that Rey Fenix really, really does not want to be in aew. Especially when bunch of the workers like a Ricky Starks or Wardlow aren't being on tv. Like it says that he hasn't been there since July, so we're talking about nearly four whole months. This guy has basically not been seen on AEW television. But with the injury time, I don't understand why Tony Khan would end up doing that in the first place. That was reported about nearly a month ago that that he did add injury time to Ray Phoenix's contract. So now on top of what he was already contracted for, now he's got to be there midway through 2025 and he's got to wait that long to hopefully go over to wwe. So since then, if you're wondering, he has since deleted the comment about the inhumane treatment and then needing a doctor for months. So the speculation is that either he did that himself because he realized that was going to create a bad rep for aew, or and this is kind of like the dictatorship kind of deal, Tony Khan told him to delete that. So you got one of your top stars in the company who's not being used on television and he's also saying that your company has been giving him inhumane treatment and has not responded to when he needed a doctor for an injury that he needed to fix. So what on earth is Tony Khan doing? Because now that is three whole weeks of different claims from Ricky Starks in which he pulled from GCW events. There was the harassment claim that Ryan Nemeth had with his time at and the involvement of CM Punk. And then now you have this one with Ray Phoenix. So there's a lot of dirt that Tony Khan needs to end up cleaning up about what is being said about his company. He should be addressing this outright and publicly to make it clear. We will now talk about Monday Night Raw. This happened this past week in Wichita. We started off with Gunter. As he opened up the show, he said that Balor had made a grave mistake and now had his undivided attention.
[00:10:29] Balor and the rest of the Judgment Day came out and accused Gunther of denying him the opportunities that he deserved favoring the undeserving like Dirty Dom.
[00:10:40] Balor then claimed that he was the only reason that Guenther held onto the championship at Survivor Series and it was thanks to him.
[00:10:49] Balor then promised after Saturday, after eight long years, he would walk out as the brand new World Heavyweight Champion. Guenther fired back, saying that he didn't even earn the match for Saturday night's main event. Guenther admitted that he once looked up to Balor, the first WWE Universal Champion, but declared that over time respect faded as Balor began cutting corners and aligning himself with the Judgment Day and taking shortcuts. Gunther then said that there is no respect left between them and figuratively and literally was looking down at Balor eight years ago he said you were the best in the world for one night. I am the best in the world right now and for thousands of days to come saying that Balor would never reach his level again. Really good innuendo here because not only is he again burying Balor for the one thing that Balor always gets made fun of and that was of course winning a championship and then dropping it the very next night and then since then has not even won a world title except for nxt.
[00:12:03] He also mentioned Best in the world. Who is considered the best in the world right now? CM Punk. So more and more of any phrases regarding CM Punk is further solidifying that Gunther is going to have a program with CM Punk at Judgment Day. Look to have the numbers game on Gunther. All of a sudden Damien Priest came out and him and Gunther wiped out the rest of the Judgment Day until Gunther turned around and hit Priest with a brutal clothesline. Just as it seemed that he would take full control clearing the announce table for a powerbomb, Balor intervened, delivering a sling blade on the floor. Balor then drove Gunther into the steel ring post with a drop kick and followed it up with a coup de gras off the ring apron. Meanwhile, Priest back in the ring, battled the other members of Judgment Day, but found himself ambushed by Balor, who then held down by Judgment Day. Balor then hit three coup de grace and then the segment ended with Balor standing tall holding both the World Tag Team Champions and the World Heavyweight title in the small little bits that they can. Balor always looks so badass whenever he goes out and he proves a statement.
[00:13:16] And I'm just saying this, but I'm really, really hoping that Balor upsets and he ends up winning the world title.
[00:13:24] Adam Pearce informed Finn that now the World Heavyweight title match at Saturday's night's main event will now be a triple threat match.
[00:13:34] Pierce also wanted Balor to lead by example and he said that next week on raw, Finn and J.D. mcDonough would put their World Tag team titles on the line against the War Raiders and Judgment Day, is banned from ringside.
[00:13:53] So Finn, after he has this world title match at Saturday night's main event, which is now being a triple threat with Priest, now Balor has a chance because it is a triple threat, which means no disqualification, that Judgement Day is not banned from ringside on Saturday. So I have a feeling that some shenanigans will happen and Balor will end up pinning Priest but not pinning Gunter and that will hopefully equal Balor winning the world title. We then moved on to the Wyatt Six, taking on the final Testament along with Miz. We return from break to find chaos unfolding in the ring. Rowan charged at Miz with a baseball slide drop kick, rolling him back into the ring.
[00:14:41] Miz countered with a mid kick, but Rowan responded with a reverse suplex, nearly securing the victory with a two.
[00:14:51] AOP stormed the ring, taking out Rowan with a devastating powerbomb.
[00:14:57] Gacy then retaliated by dropkicking Rezar to the floor, following up with a suicide dive.
[00:15:05] Loomis then launched himself into the fray with a trust fall to the outside.
[00:15:11] Rowan then tagged in Uncle Howdy and he stormed with two clotheslines and a twisting net breaker off the top rope just as Howdy built momentum. The Miz countered with a elbow smash.
[00:15:26] Karrion Kross then tags himself in, but he hit Cross with a back elbow and clotheslined him over the top rope.
[00:15:35] Nikki Cross then appeared on the announce table behind Scarlet and chased her away. Back in the ring, Uncle Howdy set it up for Sister Abigail, but Miz disrupted it. Howdy then shifted his focus to the Miz and locked in the man of a claw when all of a sudden Paul Underling returned with a cloud of powder in the face of Uncle Howdy.
[00:16:01] With the distraction, he then delivered the final prayer and Cross picked up the victory. So it is the first time that the Wyatt Six have been pinned so far in their return to the company. Moved on. We had Jackie Redman in a interview with CM Punk backstage.
[00:16:24] She asked him about the favor involving Paul Heyman and he basically said that it is a personal thing and emphasized the longstanding bond between him and Heyman.
[00:16:37] He then turned towards Seth Rollins.
[00:16:41] While Punk did not say he didn't think about Rollins, he seemed puzzled by the animosity directed towards him.
[00:16:53] Recalling their shared history, he remarked that you're Talking about a 16 year old Seth Rollins who came to CM Punk and asked him to train him to be a professional wrestler for free. That is the key part of the story that everybody likes to leave out. He elaborated that now the entitlement I think has carried over into the adult Seth Rollins who wants to be the best in the world. He wants to be on everybody's top 10 list of the greatest of all time. But I remember a time when he was on the top 10 list of people to be fired from this place and I shielded him from that. Wink wink.
[00:17:38] I guess if I have to live in my shadow I'd hate me too. Seth Rollins is extremely talented, Multiple time champion, Money in the bank winner. Everything he did, I've done better and I did it before he got here. Now I don't claim to do those things because I wanted to thank you. I recognize that that 16 year old kid had all the potential in the world and in my absence from this company, Seth did a fantastic job of fulfilling that void. But simply put, the starter is back and the second string has got to go sit down on the bench. Really good stuff.
[00:18:25] And further implementing that, Punk will always be considered as the Seth Rollins. Before Seth Rollins even got popular and as Seth Rollins was developing on the Indies, CM Punk was doing everything that Seth Rollins has done since he got to WWE 10 times better. We then moved on to Liv Morgan versus Dakota Kai. This is a very random match that ended up happening after the break. Dakota Kai took control, landing a face wash and a leaping foot stomp in the ropes, earning a near fall. Morgan then dodged Kai's pump kicked and struck back with a code breaker and a rising knee strike. The turning point came when Kai countered Morgan's flying codebreaker with a powerbomb for a close two count. Kai knocked Sonya deville who was ringside midway through the match, off the apron and off of the distraction. Morgan then dodged another face wash and hit Oblivion to secure the win. After the match, Pure Fusion Collective ambush Kai but Damage control Storm to the ring to even the odds with Kairi Sane delivering a flying cross body to the outside. With Iyo still in the ring, Liv hit Sky with an Oblivion and stood tall very nothing match, but they will have that match on Saturday for the Women's World Champion at Saturday night's main event. We then got a package from Drew McIntyre. He delivered a emotional promo reflecting his brutal toll that he had on his body. After the Hell in a cell match, McIntyre admitted that it was the most violent match of my 24 year career and in the end I succumbed to my blood loss.
[00:20:18] Despite proving himself time and time again as the Scottish Warrior, he confessed that his body needed rest and and his family needed him back in Scotland. McIntyre then stated that what 2024 could have been describing it as a year where he consistently got screwed over at the finish line. While recovering at home, he grappled with the doubts what if I'm wrong? What if everyone else was right? What if people could truly change? What if my gut was wrong?
[00:20:49] And those questions haunted him until Survivor Series.
[00:20:54] He said that watching Survivor Series was the turning point. Seeing Roman Reigns align with CM Punk flanked by Sami Zayn, Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso with their stupid fingers up in the air filled McIntyre with fury. After everything they've known, Roman snaps his fingers and they put their tail in between their legs and they run right by his side. At least CM Punk took a bribe.
[00:21:19] They all sold out for absolutely nothing and that solidified his resolve. McIntyre declared that his mission was clear and he ended with spending time back at home. I realized that I can't change the past as much as I wanted to, but I can change the present and I will change the future. Following that, we got Seth Rollins coming out for his portion of his promo, turning his attention to Punk and Punk's recent comments made earlier that night. Seth sarcastically praised Punk as a masterclass politician who has been spinning the truth his entire life. Rollins admitted to once idolizing Punk, saying, I respected CM Punk, CM Punk and I were friends. However, he revealed the betrayal he felt when Punk ghosted him and others after leaving wwe, later tearing down the company for a decade only to return for money after burning every bridge. Everything CM Punk did in this ring, I've done it twice and I did the one thing that he could never and that is main event WrestleMania now granted reminder that the only reason you main event at WrestleMania was because of Cody Rhodes and you were also very very very interested. Samuel Zayn then came out and interrupted. He apologized for accusing Rollins of attacking Jey last week. Rollins appreciated the gesture but pressed Zayn on why he was his first suspect. Zayn pointed out that Rollins erratic behavior last week, saying you weren't the Seth Rollins I've known for almost 20 years. You sounded more like Drew McIntyre. Rollins firmly stated that he was not Drew McIntyre, to which Zayn agreed, adding that Punk brought out the worst in Rollins and promised to stay out of their issues.
[00:23:15] After the two reconciled, Rollins advised Zayn to handle his issues with Drew. Taking the advice, Zayn announced that he had arranged a match with McIntyre for Saturday night's main event, vowing to end McIntyre before he can even start. However, out of nowhere on the stage, McIntyre ambushed Zayn and the chaos reached all the way to the parking lot. So now we got a mix of a rivalry between Drew and Zayn and that should be really, really good. But now with Drew coming back and now with Sammy, you know, I don't even know where he is and what picture he's going to be at come WrestleMania. But now it's just where do you go from there? Where do you go from after this match? Next up we had the WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship Tournament. This is the women's affiliate for the US Championship that will be on smackdown and it was Lyra Vakiria, Zelina Vega and Ivy Nile.
[00:24:21] We pick up in the middle of the match. Valkyria regained control, hitting a double drop kick through the ropes and a tornado dat on Niall. She then followed up with a Fisherman's buster. Vega re entered the action with a Swanton bomb for a near fall and a flying Meteora for another close fall. Niall then countered Valkyria's Nightwing attempt into a Fujiwara armbar. The two exchange roll ups and Vega hit a sliding destroyer on the floor. Niall then showcased her power, hitting a reverse Urinagi slam and two Germans, but Vega kicked out. The ending came with Vega delivering code red for another near fall, but Valkyria countered with a night ring to pick up the victory. Again, pretty nothing match and I don't know exactly who is going to end up being in that final for the Women's Intercontinental Championship, but as always it is great to see that the women are getting more opportunities to shine and they have another title that they can prove themselves for. We then went the big segment and this was right before the main event, and Xavier woods and Kofi Kingston were being interviewed by Kathy Kelly. And all throughout the night, it was shown that woods and Kingston were going through the locker room and nobody wanted to talk to them. Even Cody Rhodes, who was there talking to Adam Pearce about possibly joining Monday Night Raw, which, by the way, he will.
[00:25:52] And Cody said that he was ashamed of woods and Kingston.
[00:25:58] Kathy Kelly began questioning their intentions regarding Big E, implying their betrayal.
[00:26:06] Offended by her questions, Xavier then took the camera that was filming them.
[00:26:11] He snatched it away from. I believe it was Stu, which is most likely the friend of John Cena. He even said it.
[00:26:18] And he started to film Kofi as they went through Gorilla out into the arena. There was no music. It was just silence with chants of new day sucks and we want Big E standing in the ring. Kofi and Xavier confronted the crowd, and Kofi said, no, no, no, no. You want to tell me that after 10 years of positivity that woods and I have given you, you mean to tell me that you're mad over one day we came out here, we didn't even do anything to E.
[00:26:53] Kofi said that, you know, we could have taken a steel chair to Big E's back. We could have taken a sledgehammer to his neck.
[00:27:03] But instead, their betrayal was psychological.
[00:27:07] It was a deep cut aimed at the man they claimed had abandoned them. And then after getting completely booed out of the arena, they finally left the ring, in which the crowd gave a huge cheer.
[00:27:25] This was really great stuff because this was like Dirty Dom level heat, which is always good, especially for a group of people like Xavier woods and Kofi Kingston, who not a lot of people thought were going to do well on another heel run. But then once they betrayed Big E and now they are looked at as the bad guys, their answer is, y'all really mad over what we did to E. We told him that we wanted him out. We didn't attack him behind his back. We didn't go on and re injure his neck. We did a psychological torture betrayal on Biggie because he betrayed us first.
[00:28:10] Woods continued all throughout the night saying, what do we do? What do we do?
[00:28:16] Because they thought that they did something great, they eliminated the one factor that kept them from growing. That's what they said last week. They said that the reason that they did not grow was because they kept on waiting for E. They did not change because they were waiting on E. And E never came back, and he went to his desk job. So now basically trying to point them as the victim, but really Good stuff and hopefully within the next month we get some type of physical altercation with E, or we get a surprise entrant into the Royal Rumble by Big E. Your main event for Monday Night Raw was Raquel Rodriguez and Rhea Ripley in a no disqualification match.
[00:29:01] During the commercial break, Rhea dominated, but momentum shifted when both competitors landed each other with a double big boot and a double down.
[00:29:11] Ripley struck first, recovering and delivered a short arm clothesline with a vicious roundhouse kick. She followed up by dropkicking a chair into Rodriguez's face. Raquel, however, fought back with a knee lift and a reverse powerbomb into the turnbuckle for a near fall. Ripley countered Rodriguez's attempts at the Dominator, landing on her feet and smashing a chair into Rodriguez's marriage section for another two count. Ripley then set a pile of chairs in the ring, aiming for riptide, but Liv Morgan rushed out to cause a distraction.
[00:29:46] Ripley retaliated by throwing Morgan into the ring. Rodriguez leveled Ripley with a big boot and power slammed her onto the pile of chairs for a near fall. Ripley denied a Tijuana bomb and responded with a headbutt, but Morgan interfered again, only to be slammed by Rhea. EO sky then appeared, nailing Morgan with a springboard missile dropkick and landing a suicide dive to take her out of the equation.
[00:30:12] The ending came when Rodriguez came close to a victory when she attempted the Tijuana bomb, but Ria countered it, driving her face first into a wedge chair. Rhea then sealed the win by delivering a riptide through a table and got the 1, 2, 3. Drama continued after the match though when both Iyo sky and Rhea Ripley ended up grabbing the Women's World Championship and Iyo sky is facing Liv Morgan this Saturday, but Rhea is still trying to find her way back into the world title picture and receive the championship that she never rightly lost. So this was kind of good. Definitely hoping for a triple threat sometime along probably that first episode of Netflix. Reports, by the way have now came out that the main event of the first Raw on Netflix will be CM Punk versus Seth Rollins, which is a very, very good move that will generate a lot of viewers to turn on to Netflix and witness finally Rollins and Punk. Because I don't know if they are going to try to do it again at Mania or are they going to shift to Punk winning the Royal Rumble and then challenging Gunther in the main event of one of the Knights of Mania. But until then we will see. We now shift two Friday Night Smackdown that happened last week.
[00:31:49] We kicked off with Cody delivering his trademark question, what do you want to talk about? He then hyped up the return of Saturday night's main event. For Cody, competing at such an event is more than a dream. It's about legacy.
[00:32:07] Yet the conversation quickly turned personal as Cody zeroed in on his tumultuous history with Kevin Owens.
[00:32:17] But before anything could be made, surprisingly, Chad Gable of American Made, along with his American Made stablemates of Ivy Nile and Julius and Brutus Creed came out.
[00:32:32] Chad Gable made his presence felt in his hometown of Minneapolis, took to the mic and he acknowledged that Cody's professionalism and his championship demeanor admitted that Cody once inspired him to strive for greatness. But that respect didn't last long as Gable tore into Cody's character, accusing him of being superficial and a terrible friend, referencing Cody's alleged betrayal of Kevin Owens with Roman reigns.
[00:33:05] Gable's disdain was clear when he likened Cody to someone who prioritizes public perception over loyalty, stating that all Cody Rhodes cares about is what everybody else thinks about Cody Rhodes.
[00:33:20] Cody fired back by admitting seeing similarities in himself and Gable, referencing that they shared struggles to overcome past Cody's being Stardust and Gable's being Shorty G.
[00:33:35] Cody praised Gable's ability to maximize opportunities, but warned him of the dangers of self construction, cautioning, what happens when you go for your endgame one more time and you don't get it? Cody painted a stark picture of potential fallout, suggesting that Gable's failure could harm those around him like Brutus and Julius Creed and Ivy Nile. Gable snapped back and said, don't talk to me like you know me.
[00:34:03] And he then said that if he was prepared in his ring attire that he would whoop Cody's ass when challenged. Cody did not hesitate and he told him to go back there and actually lace up his boots and go ask Nick Aldis if you can go one on one with me tonight. Cody then warned Gable that his focus is on Kevin Owens. Chad, I've got Kevin Owens on my mind and that's no good for you. So during this promo, Chad Gable said that he had entered the transfer portal. Now of course, whenever we hear transfer portal, we mostly associate it with college and college athletes. But now it has been revealed that there is going to be some shifts that happen between nxt, Raw and smackdown to where new storylines and new rivalries and new things will be happening. And I think the reasoning why is because they want to see who's the top stars that they can get onto Netflix with. Also keeping the star power on USA Network with Smackdown So some really good things happening and I am very interested in see who gets traded where and most likely we already know that probably the bloodline will be going to Raw and so will Cody and Roman.
[00:35:29] So I don't know what that's going to leave for smackdown. Does that mean Gunter ends up going to smackdown? Gunter was shown backstage on this smackdown talking to Nick Aldis.
[00:35:45] We then are shown the aftermath of the men's War games match that brought devastating news and several superstars suffered significant injuries. So two we already knew about and that was Bronson Reed. He had suffered a broken foot and ankle and that would put him out indefinitely. Jimmy broke his toe during zuccho splash off the top of the cage, but the one that nobody knew up until this point was Tonga Loa somehow in the match suffered a torn tricep so he will be out for a lengthy period of time.
[00:36:21] I don't know what way I can put this, but in the best way possible. Thank goodness that it was Tonga Loa was the one that got injured and not Tamatanga because if Tamataga got injured this bloodline group would absolutely be nothing. I don't know what they would have done because at least Tama Tonga has gotten himself over with him having the gimmick of just going again, that was just a meaning that he had like immediately when he debuted for the main roster and he was shown backstage getting ready for a match like that's just what it was and he's worked his way up to that so he's gotten himself over. But if it was Tango Loa who's done absolutely nothing, it would have suck and it would have just only been solo and Jacob. We then moved on to the last first round match for the Women's United States Championship Tournament with Tiffany Stratton Hometown hero Tiffany Stratton taking on Naomi and Electra Lopez.
[00:37:25] After the second break, Stratton attempted for a body slam but Lopez quickly countered with a single leg Boston Crab sparking a roll up exchange between the three competitors. Lopez then clothesline Stratton and hit Naomi with a swinging urinary Islam for a two count.
[00:37:43] Lopez maintained the offense, delivering a clubbing knee strikes to Stratton in the corner before kicking her out of the ring. She nearly avoided Stratton's roundhouse kick and responded with a blue ThunderBomb for another two count. The match continued with a fierce forearm exchange between the women, cultivating in Naomi hitting Stratton with the rearview mirror and then delivering X factor to Lopez. Naomi also dragged Lopez to The corner where she blasted Candice Loray, who was trying to interfere off the apron, only to be met by a punch back from Lopez. Naomi fought back, blocking a hangman's neckbreaker and delivering a reverse ddt followed by a split, laying in Moonsault for a nearfall. Stratton then made her presence known with a slingshot sent on and she sent Naomi out to the floor. Finally, Stratton planted Lopez with the prettiest Moonsault ever to secure the 1, 2, 3 and advance in the tournament. So a nice little Hometown victory. Apparently to the commentators, it was the first time that Tiffany Stratton had ever wrestled in front of her hometown. We then shifted backstage to the Street Profits showed that they got laid out backstage. Nick Aldis did not know who attacked the profits and the Motor City Machine Guns are here and all of a sudden here comes Gargano.
[00:39:08] And Gargano mentions oh well, if you need a challenger for the tag titles, why not me and Tommaso?
[00:39:15] The Guns are fine with that and DIY will get their title shot tonight, but Nick hopes that Tommaso Ciampa does not make him regret this decision. We then moved on to Bianca Belair taking on Piper Niven.
[00:39:34] Bianca Belair is of course still in the storyline where she is trying to figure out who attacked Jade Cargill.
[00:39:41] Again, my assumptions are that Bianca attacked Jade herself. After the break, Niven attempted a Piper driver with Belair swiftly countering with a sleeper hole. Niven responded by slamming Belair back first into the canvas, but Belair quickly avoided Niven's running splash and sidestepped Niven into the turnbuckles.
[00:40:05] Belair kept the momentum going with a flying cross body block for a two count followed by a corner spear. Niven fought back and attempted a powerbomb, but Belair landed on her feet, ducked a clothesline and hit a spear for another nearfall. However, Niven blocked Belair's KOD attempt, landing a straight right hand and followed up with a backdrop driver.
[00:40:27] Niven went for a running cannonball strike in the corner, but but Belair countered it with a spine buster. Belair then set up her signature handspring Moonsault, but Niven countered by getting her knees up. Despite Belair avoiding a second running cannonball strike, Niven hit a set out powerbomb for another two count as match nears its end. Niven dragged Belair into the corner looking for a Vader bomb, but Belair blocked it. Belair then threw Chelsea Green into the ring and then hit Niven with the KOD onto Green With Bel Air getting the victory backstage, Belair then said that whoever was Jade's attacker, it is on site. So nice little warm up match there for Bianca Belair, but most likely we'll get news hopefully within the next couple of weeks that it was Bianca who attacked Jade. Moving on, we had Shinsuke Nakamura coming out and always Shinsuke Nakamura now with this new repackaged look is looking so bad ass. He is looking amazing with the mask, with the music. It is straight samurai vibes. But before anything happened, La Knight comes out. He declared that Nakamura's reign as U.S. champion was a cheap shot and a cheap victory at Survivor Series. Nice. Frustration boiled over and he demanded a rematch, saying that Nakamura hadn't done anything and took advantage of Knight. Then declared that he was prepared to face Nakamura head on with his LA Night Mist blockers and he was ready to stomp out his opponent and get back the title that he believed was rightfully his.
[00:42:21] All of a sudden, Andrade El Idolo popped up and he stated that he had unfinished business with Nakamura. La Knight not backing down. He dismissed Andrade his intentions and he promised that once he went back the title he would give him a shot. But before anything could happen, all of a sudden, Tama Tonga, he pulls Andrade off the rope and he starts attacking him. Before a spinning wheel kick was delivered by Jacob Fatu and Nakamura was cornered after the rest of the bloodline came out and attacked Andrade and Knight. After the attack, Solo took the mic and to address the doubters after his loss at War Games. And he said to anyone thinking that the bloodline is finished, I dare you to step up because we will lay your ass out every single time. He expressed his anger at being underestimated, but he still declared that he was the tribal chief and the head of the table. And of course he still had the ULA Fala. His ultimatum was clear, that anyone who challenged the bloodline would face a ruthless punishment. And he ended with of course saying, minneapolis, acknowledge me. So of course they are not stopping with the Roman feud and that will probably conclude somewhere at the start of 2025 and hopefully be done before the Royal Rumble. And then of course Rowan is going to enter the Royal Rumble and whoever he gets eliminated by will most likely face him at WrestleMania. Or the rumor, like I have mentioned before, is that the final two is going to be Roman and Punk and Punk is going to get screwed by Rollins and then Roman is going to try and face Cody for the World heavyweight championship at WrestleMania and this will be Cody Roman 3 so, moving on, we then had the WWE Tag Team Championship match between the Motor City Machine Guns of Chris Saban and Alex Shelley against DIY of Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. The biggest story was Ciampa shouting at Gargano, saying that he was slow and stupid and not taking advantage of the situation.
[00:44:53] We pick up back into the ring. Shelly sidestepped Ciampa, sending him crashing to the turnbuckles, only for Ciampa to recover and kick Shelley in the gut.
[00:45:02] Ciampa went for his signature fairytale ending, but Shelley countered with a back body drop. Shelley then tagged in Saban, who immediately gained the upper hand with two clotheslines, followed by an inverted atomic drop. Saban whipped Champa across the ring, but Ciampa attempted a sunset flip, which Saban countered with two penalty kicks. Saban then hit a flying crossbody block for a two count, followed by a running back elbow. Saban then tagged Shelley back in, and the Machine Guns continued to dominate with a corner clothesline, double forearm and a net breaker flying knee drop combo. Shelley then hit another combo, a flatliner step in security for a near fall.
[00:45:44] Ciampa was a finish and fought back with a top rope stunner and a hangman's net breaker, both in, which earned him two counts.
[00:45:51] Ciampa then dumped Shelly out of the ring and tagged in Gargano, who then rolled Shelly back to the ring. And Ciampa just looked at Gargano and they just started shoving each other and they're like, what are you doing? Why aren't you attacking him? Why aren't you ruthlessly attacking the champions? We need these.
[00:46:11] Finally, Gargano frustrated, he shoved Champa and he demanded that he leaves the ring. He said, leave, get out. I'll do this myself.
[00:46:22] And now Champa is just basically on the outside saying, DIY is done. And he's seeing all these things and he ends up grabbing a chair from the timekeepers area and he distracts the ref. And behind the back, Shelly and Saban are setting up for Skull and Bones, when all of a sudden, Gargano low blows Saban while he's in the nut breaker.
[00:46:46] And all of a sudden, Shelly comes down, he shocked.
[00:46:51] And that's when Gargano hit him with a super kick and then went back to the corner and tagged in Ciampa, where they delivered meat in the middle on Saban and secured the pin and are now the new WWE Tag Team Champions. I did not expect that both Gargano and Ciampa were going to turn heel. But now this will generate a better program and hopefully we see a lot more of it. The biggest thing is I would love to see a lot more tag team championship matches on pleas, but I'm guessing that someone from the TV networks basically said that, you know, what is the one title that we can constantly put on TV to have defenses of and that is really the tag titles. Because since WrestleMania, I don't know any other ple where we've got in a tag team match that was for the tag team titles. So we then went to a interview with Michael Cole and Kevin Owens. Owens was invited earlier in the night to go inside of the arena and get an interview with Cole, but Owens decided to stay in his rental car and told Cole to go out there and interview him. So Cole came right into the rental car and they sat and Cole asked him, you know, why do you really think you're doing this to Cody? Why in the world are you saying that he betrayed you?
[00:48:27] And Owens, fed up. He said, when I first saw you in nxt, I was trying to get people like you to like me, but if I had known what I know now, I wouldn't have wasted my time talking to you. He continued with how many times were you there sitting at the commentary table watching Roman Reigns try to end my career and then Cody Rhodes shows up at Bad Blood to stand alongside him and nothing happens. Owens continued calling out Cody for his egomaniac behavior, recalling that just two weeks ago Cody referred to him as an egomaniac obsessed with being the top guy. So basically he tried to spin it around and say, how am I the egomaniac trying to be the top guy when you are constantly being the top guy, selling the merch, being the champion, being the guy doing the interviews, going on talk shows like Jimmy Fallon and you want to say that I am obsessed being the top guy?
[00:49:26] He further emphasized that his anger at Cody's return, pointing out that when cody left in 2016 due to the frustrations over opportunities, just like Owens did. Yet since coming back, all Cody has been about is his stupid logo and the multiple sets of pyro in his entrance.
[00:49:45] And he brushed off Jey and Jimmy's actions and he claimed, do you think I care about Jey or Jimmy uso? Do you think I care what they do? They chose to be Roman's pawns long before and if they wanted to go back to that, great.
[00:50:03] His focus was squarely on Cody's betrayal, which he felt personally. He said, cody Rhodes was my friend and he stabbed me in the back. He stabbed me in front of my face.
[00:50:16] And accused of Cole not understanding betrayal because he didn't have any friends.
[00:50:22] And he basically just said, I'm not the problem, you're the problem, before kicking Cole out of the car. He's using a lot of the old Kevin Owens kind of like whiny heel tactics. But, you know, with everything that he does in the ring, it's all business. He is all about that violence. And it was shown when he delivered the pile driver to Randy Orton. So I. A lot of people really want him to take the title off Cody.
[00:50:52] And it's gotten to the point where, like, this is like, where like, Roman's reign and basically, like, who was gonna take the title off. And they're like, oh, these people are great to, you know, take the title off of Roman. And then you get a whole new look. And I actually agree with this one, is that Kevin Owens should be the world champion. He should absolutely obliterate Cody and take him out, and then Cody just win it back at the Rumble, and then you end up getting your match with Roman at Mania. If that ends up happening. We then shifted to talking about next week on smackdown, where the women's semifinals for the United States Championship tournament will take place with Tiffany Stratton taking on Meachan and Bailey taking on Chelsea Green. Meanwhile, Carmelo Hayes was talking to Nick Aldis, who had been engaging RAW superstars instead of focusing on his, quote, first round draft pick. Aldis said that he has a special opponent lined up for Melo next week. Now, as of this recording, the rumor, because they said that it was a new superstar on the description on YouTube, because he did not say that it was a new superstar. He did not say it was a returning superstar. He just says, I have somebody in mind. Nick Aldis told Carmelo Hayes, the rumor at first glance was that this was going to be the debut of Penta el zero amiro, but now since then, there have been reports that it is actually Braun Strowman, which is not a very good move because now you're just going to bury Carmelo Hayes. And now what is Strowman going to do?
[00:52:50] What is the big storyline that Strowman has? There's nobody as big as Strowman on smackdown, so I don't even know what that's for, but that is what is being reported. We then shifted to the main event where Cody faced Chad Gable.
[00:53:10] Gable took control during the commercial break, delivering a series of moves, including a chop forearm combo and a dropkick to Rhodes injured left knee.
[00:53:24] Rhodes battled back, hitting a devastating Avalanche inverted suplex, trading shots with Gable and executed a disaster kick. Gable continued to outmaneuver Rhodes, avoiding a Chaos Theory attempt and locking in ankle lock. After removing Rhodes left wrestling boot, he straight up ripped the boot off and was straight up doing a ankle lock Eddie Guerrero style to Cody Rhodes. Rhodes fought off Gable, driving him into the turnbuckle and landing a Cody cutter, but Gable countered into another ankle lock.
[00:54:06] Rose then rolled out and hit Gable with a crossroads, securing the win. However, as Cody was collecting himself, Kevin Owens appeared and he stopped on the right ankle of Rhodes and they engaged in a massive pole brawl as the show went off the air. A lot of crazy stuff happening with smackdown. The title change between DIY and the Motor City Machine Guns was really, really good. But this Owens thing, I'm really, really hoping that they end up taking the belt off of Cody because we do not need a full year reign for a world champion and I believe that WWE should regulate that. Now I'm not saying you change it every two weeks, you change it every month, but at least give him the option of basically dropping the title after having it for a couple months. We will now talk about Saturday night's main event as I mentioned will take place from Long Island, New York at the Nassau Coliseum on Saturday night on NBC.
[00:55:18] The first match we just were talking about an undefeated WB champion, Cody Rhodes goes to war with Kevin Owens.
[00:55:27] I really hope that Kevin Owens wins. I feel like all roads point to Cody finally losing the belts. It was revealed that Triple H has given Cody something special for Saturday night's main event and it is rumored to be the Winged Eagle belt. The old 90s belts that has been held by so many greats like Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Yokozuna Hogan. Several people have used that old title and they are going to return it for one night only at Saturday night's main event.
[00:56:09] We then have the Women's World Championship between Liv Morgan versus EO Sky. I think this is going to be an easy win for Liv Morgan and we will most likely see a triple threat between Eos Guy and Rhea Ripley at the Royal Rumble. Gunther defends the World Heavyweight title against Finn Balor and Damian Priest. I said this again, I think that some buffoonery will end up happening where Finn will get the win thanks to a distraction and he will actually pin Priest instead of pinning Gunter, which then will launch a rematch between Gunter and Finn and then Finn is going to end up winning the match because either one of two things and my Guess is that it is going to be from either a Judgment Day distraction or Ludwig Kaiser betrays Gunter.
[00:57:09] And then finally we have Sami Zayn versus Drew McIntyre. This was the latest match that was announced and I have a feeling that this is going to be a very, very dominant win for Drew McIntyre. It's going to get him right back into the swing of things and hopefully after that Drew maybe will go after something like the Intercontinental Championship or something like that. I think that Bron Breakker vs Drew would be a really big heel on heel matchup. Finally we have AEW Dynamite. Winter is coming.
[00:57:50] In the opening match we saw Jon Moxley and Pac take on Jay White and Orange Cassidy. The unlikely partnership of White and Cassidy it was then showed that Christian Cage and the rest of the patriarchy, Nick Wayne, Kip Sabian and Mama Wayne were shown in the skybox watching the action unfold. Moxley and Pat continued their ruthless attack.
[00:58:17] Moxley connected with a short arm clothesline on White, but soon countered by Cassidy who came in with hard right hands and a pumpkick to Moxley. Cassidy impressed with a satellite DDT to pack and a diving DDT from the top, nearly getting the pinfall. Cassidy continued his flying offense, delivering another satellite DDT to Moxley and a slum dog millionaire to Pack. Moxley then fired back with a big boot to White, but the fight turned when Cassidy attempted to do the orange punch. Yuta then interfered taking the punch himself and Cassidy retaliated by shoving Saphir off the apron. Cassidy then attempted another orange punch, but the arrival of Hangman Page led to a disqualification as he got involved in the brawl. Chaos erupted as Hangman Cassidy and White all went at it with Moxley laughing from the outside enjoying the chaos. We then saw backstage Moxley cut a promo declaring that he was a marked man and that he was later living with a knife to the throat and it was the only way to survive. He called out the egos that dominated AEW and claimed that they ruined the company. He then ended by announcing a special Christmas gift for everyone and said that he wanted a fatal four way for World's end at the pay per view.
[00:59:49] So as I had predicted, we are getting a fatal four way between Moxley, Cassidy, White and Page for the World Heavyweight Championship. So I'm wondering, is finally this the time we get to see Shane McMahon come back?
[01:00:09] Because it was rumored and you know, worst case scenario that the reason why we haven't is because of the recent situations with Tony Khan that now Shane has diverted himself away from the situation but man, Shane McMahon on AEW would deliver so much for dynamite and it would give a actual answer and why Moxley is actually doing this to try to change aew.
[01:00:39] We then went back to Christian Cage, who was still in the skybox. He then began cutting a promo saying how he looked down on the people of Kansas City and he hinted that he might just take the title at World's End when the match is all said and done. He then ominously suggested that he could send Moxley to a dark place, one where Moxley might feel the urge to drink again. Christian was about to continue running down the rest of the city when suddenly Hook comes up from behind and he smashes his head against the glass door, immediately going after Christian.
[01:01:18] He beat him down, bouncing Christian's head off of the snack table before dragging him through the mess of food. Kip Sabian and Nick Wayne eventually arrived to intervene, but Hook managed to escape, leaving Christian seething in the wreckage.
[01:01:36] I have a feeling that the Christian Cage gimmick where he's always going to find something cruel and vile to say, whether it's about a dead dad or it's about somebody's habits or whatever. Like it's great, but it gets really old really, really fast.
[01:01:54] We then got to the first of the Continental Classic matches tonight for the Gold League. We have Claudio Castagnoli who's at six points, taking on Will Ospreay, who is at the action kicked off with a Sasuke special from Ospreay right out of the gate. Ospreay quickly followed up with a phenomenal forearm to score a near fall and attempted his Oscutter, but was cut off by Claudio's European uppercut. He fought back with a hook kick, leaving both men down on the mat as the match progressed, Ospreay lowered his albapad signaling for hidden blade, but Claudio countered with a huge boot. Claudio then went for a Ricola bomb, but Ospreay escaped only to be sent crashing down to the mat with a brutal arm wringer. Claudio showed off his power with a Carlin lift, nearly pinning Ospreay with a two count. Claudio then positioned Ospreay on the top rope looking for a superplex, but Ospreay fought back with a headbutt, landing a Phoenix splash attempt only for Claudio to avoid it and deliver another running European uppercut for a nearfall.
[01:03:05] The match turned to a slugfest in the center of the ring, where Ospreay managed to hit the Oz cutter out of nowhere. Claudio rolled to the outside to recover, giving himself a brief breather. Ospreay brought himself back into the ring and went for a hidden blade, only for Claudio to counter by popping him up into another European uppercut. Claudio then nailed Ospreay by the lariat, but the two count was not enough to end the match as Claudio tried for the Ricola bomb once more. Ospreay countered into a jackknight cover, which got the 1, 2, 3, and now Claudio and Will Ospreay are tied at six points in the Gold League. We then moved on to we then moved on to Renee Paquette interviewing Ricochet backstage and he will be facing Brody King later on tonight.
[01:03:58] He said the guys like Brody King are why Ricochet came to aew and tonight he's facing Brody King for the first time ever. He said that even though Brody King has a lot of things, he is not Ricochet, and then he ends up pulling out MVP's business card for the Hurt Syndicate. And he said, but tonight I hold all the cards. So a little teaser that possibly Ricochet could be the fourth member in the Hurt Syndicate alongside Shelton, Benjamin, Bobby Lashley and mvp. In the finals of the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal, Kyle Riley faced off against Adam Cole, with the winner earning a shot at MJF for the Dynamite Diamond Ring at World's End. This is what it's come to. It's come to a damn ring that every year, no matter who wins the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal, always gets beat by mjf.
[01:05:02] MJF was also earlier in the night shown arriving to the arena, so he was here watching this match.
[01:05:12] Midway through, Kyle charged into the corner to eat a super kick from Cole. Cole then hit a brutal brain buster on his knee, getting a two count.
[01:05:23] O'Reilly then fought back close, letting Cole over the top rope. Followed up with a running knee off the apron. Back inside, Kyle attempted a top rope move, but missed the diving knee drop. He blocked a super kick and landed a spinning back kick, but Cole moved just in time and connected with the boom and both men were down for quite a while. They then traded stereo big boots before Cole landed a low super kick near the knees, which followed by a rebound lariat from Cole. Kyle then hit a falcon arrow into a ankle lock, but Cole managed to reach the rope to break the hole. The action continued to escalate as both men battled on the top rope. Kyle locked in the kimoralock, but Cole fought back with a headbutt, setting up for a Panama sunrise. Cole then dropped his knee pad, but quickly Kyle transitioned into an ankle lock, locking in to Cole's injured ankle. Cole then flipped Kyle through the ropes to the floor. Kyle tried to hit a brain buster on the outside, but Cole escaped and delivered a superkick to the face as the referee checked on Kyle back to the ring. MJF made his way to the ring but was immediately superkicked by Cole. Kyle attempted a roll up for a near fall off the distraction, but Cole responded up with a roll up of his own, securing the victory. And now he will face MJF at World's End. So so now a full circle moment coming at World's end. Last year Adam Cole betrayed MJF and MJF lost the world title to Samoa Joe. Now this year, Adam Cole looks to end MJF for a second year in a row. Or will MJF finally get his comeback and beat Adam Cole again?
[01:07:19] We have another Gold League matchup for the Continental classic as Rick O'Shea, who has had zero wins, takes on Brody King, who only has three points.
[01:07:33] During the commercial break, Brody had the upper hand maintaining control. Ricochet attempted a handspring off of the ropes, but Brody caught him and hit a rebound German suplex for a two count. Brody then went for a lariat, but Ricochet backflipped on his chest and followed up with a pair of insiguris. Brody then rolled to the outside and Ricochet quickly followed with a corkscrew plancha to the floor.
[01:07:58] Brody rolled back into the ring and Ricochet came off the top with a springboard 450 splash, but Brody kicked out at one.
[01:08:06] Brody then sat up and Ricochet hit two pumpkicks to the face. Brody responded with a vicious lariat. Ricochet responded back by flipping out of a gonzo bomb attempt and rolled Brody up for a near fall. Ricochet then landed a pair of knees, but Brody fired back with a chop and an avalanche in the corner, followed by a cannonball that nearly ended the match. Both men climbed to the top rope where Ricochet hit a sunset flip powerbomb sending Brody Cash into the mat.
[01:08:39] Ricochet then went up for a shooting star press, but Brody ground his throat midair, locking in a rear naked choke. Ricochet managed to break free and guillotine Brody over the top rope. Ricochet went for a springboard what was chopped out of midair by Brody King.
[01:08:59] Ricochet followed up with a DDT on the top rope and ended up kicking out Brody's leg.
[01:09:08] Ricochet then hit the spirit gun to Brody's back and another to the face, securing the victory and earning his first win in the Gold League.
[01:09:20] So during the middle of this match.
[01:09:24] During the end of this match, you could definitely hear audibly that Ricochet was getting booed. So definitely, I would presume that the move for Ricochet to go to the Hurt Syndicate is definitely in effect, because also he 100% needs a mouthpiece because as we can see, Ricochet cannot cut promos properly. So it's better if he does it off of MVP and not himself.
[01:10:01] We then moved on to the main event, where for the AEW Women's World Championship, it was Mariah May against Mina Shirakawa.
[01:10:15] May controlled the action through the commercial and landed some right hands to Mia's forehead.
[01:10:24] However, when Mei hit the ropes, Mina ducked a clothesline and responded with a springboard and Saguri. The two women then traded straight right hands in the center of the ring. May hit the ropes again, but this time walked into a rolling elbow and a spinning back fist from Mina. Mina then continued her attack with a dropkick to Mei's back and a drop back superplex for a two count.
[01:10:52] She followed up with another back fist and a reverse DDT, but Mei kicked out at 2.
[01:10:58] Mina then draped Mei over the top rope and hit a DDT only for May to get another two count.
[01:11:07] May then countered by pulling Mina throat first across the middle rope and delivering two running knees to the face. She hit Mayday, but Mina barely kicked out at 2. Mina managed to crucifix out of another Mayday attempt, but it was not enough. And then the finish came when she tried to hit a diving sling blade off the middle buckle and went for the glamorous driver, but May kicked out.
[01:11:40] Then when May delivered a head bet, following by storm zero, she got the 1, 2, 3.
[01:11:50] And then just when she was about to celebrate the victory, all of a sudden, Toni Storm returns. But it's not timeless Toni Storm. This is the old Toni Storm, the black and red old school Toni Storm that Mariah May would usually impersonate and she would sometimes come out to the same song. And basically, now Toni Storm is finally back. So timeless Toni Storm has now been retired and now Toni Storm is back to reclaim what was heard. But overall, it was a pretty meh episode of AEW Dynamite. Of course, the biggest pop being Toni Storm finally coming back. And now she's back to her regular self. So I know a lot of people are very excited about that and what that could mean for their feud with Mariah May and Toni Storm. But going back to the Continental Classic, we have a updated leaderboard of who is in the league this episode of Dynamite was only the Gold League. So Darby Allen, he currently has three, Ricochet has three, Brody King has three, and Commander of course has zero.
[01:13:12] But the only ones with six are Claudio Castagnoli and Will Ospreay.
[01:13:20] Now on the other hand, with the Blue League, and this was quite surprising. But Kyle Fletcher now has nine points because he's beaten the Beast Mortos. He beat Shelton Benjamin and he beat Okada, so he beat Okada outright on collision, so he did not tie with Daniel Garcia. Daniel Garcia and Okada both have four points. Okada got his win against Mark Briscoe and Daniel Garcia got his win against Beast Mortos. Mark Briscoe, he has three. He has a win over Daniel Garcia. And Shelton Benjamin only has one win over Mark Briscoe. But the Beast Mortos of course, does not have any wins. So that is the update on the Continental Classic. And that is it for episode five of the Rocking Review podcast. I want to thank you all to listening and again it is spelled R A W K because we talk about the W's in pro wrestling. Thank you everybody.
